We drove up from the city to visit family upstate, when my girlfriend was suddenly so hungry she turned into one of those people from the Snickers commercial where they get handed a snickers bar and turn back to themselves, ya know?
Well we're on this diet, actually it was my diet, but I lost 20lbs before we went to Puerto Rico, and she was dieting, but she doesn't need to, she looks great, but "she didn't fit into any of her clothes", so the whole time she said she was going to try my new diet.
So, we're on this boring diet, and we're driving up to visit my Nana, because she's old, keep in mind we have a bag of snacks. Dried fruit, some fresh fruit, some jerky, all of our normal boring diet stuff. We're about 50 miles out from Albany when she gets so hungry that she can't wait, but she doesn't want any of our snacks.
I remember stopping in Coxsackie for gas years ago, so I look up a place to eat and sure enough Simones pops up. We have a ten minute diatribe about where we're going to get groceries before going to my mom's house to cook dinner until I can finally convince her this is the best option almost absolutely, without having ever been myself.
Let me tell you internet buds Simones DELIVERED.
The service is this new fast-casual, Chipotle-style make your own meal, but the options are plentiful. Multiple bases (rice, burrito, salad), protein, condiments, sauces, and I feel like they have other options that fall in and out of these categories. My girlfriend just literally asked for a little bit of everything. I got the Chicken Shwarma bowl. Everything was fresh, colorful, and SUPER TASTY.
We wrote down some of the stuff they have so we can try to make these dishes at home for our dumb boring diet.
We're telling all our upstate brethren to stop by on their way down to visit us.
Future trips are being planned around our ability to stop by Simones Kitchen for a bowl of take-out.
Thank you for your...
Read moreWhat a joke Food is great! I had a minimal amount of grass clippings on my shirt and pants from mowing(not a colossal amount). Keep in mind I was only sitting on the mower and not doing crazy dirty work. The owner or manager asked me to go brush off outside and said he would help me after I ordered which I thought was rude/odd. He said there wasn’t a cleaner available today. So basically don’t walk into the store after working outside make sure to brush yourself off before you do. I’ve been 10 times messier and have never been asked to do that so I just thought it was interesting coming from a family of business owners. After I was asked that I just wanted to leave as soon as possible. Not a bad interaction, but the vibe was really off after that like they didn’t want me in the store, especially since he started vacuuming right in front of me. Won’t be going back.
Then he said there was mud on the floor when I knew for a fact I didnt have mud on my boots.
In his reply he deleted, he said they have people all of the time that work outside and they never bother them to wipe off there clothes, he just had to say something to me because of the sheer amount of debris on the floor. Which is laughable there was literally nothing on the floor.
It took him 10 seconds to vacuum whatever he saw.
Based on his reply he thought there was a dump truck load of dirt on his floor. I’m sure dozens of people track debris into the store and I am the one to get singled out. Hope you have a better day too bud. It took you 10 seconds to vacuum whatever you saw on the floor.

Read moreYet another incredible place. And yet another spot I find myself coming back to on the regular!
Out of all the places I’ve been to in Coxsackie, this one is definitely one of my favorites. Everything I’ve tried here is always delicious—fresh, flavorful, and honestly, you can tell they care about what they’re serving. Oh, and let’s not forget… HEALTHY! You know the Mediterranean diet is one of the healthiest in the world, and this place makes eating clean feel like a treat, not a chore. What I love most is how easy it is to swing by, even last minute. If you’re ever short on time, seriously—skip McDonald’s or any of those fast food spots and pull up here instead. You get real food, made fresh, and you leave feeling good about it. My personal favorite? The chicken shawarma—hands down. Perfectly seasoned, juicy, and just packed with flavor. And if you haven’t tried it with pickled beets on top, do it. Game changer. That combo hits every time. Whether you’re grabbing a quick lunch or picking up dinner on the way home, this place never misses. Definitely worth checking out if you’re...
