Gosman's Topside Restaurant — Restaurant in Town of East Hampton

We had an amazing dinner. We received a gift from my husband’s sister and originally thought it was for the new restaurant Bagatelle. We looked at the menu and we were disappointed to see it was a French restaurant. Luckily, it turned out that our gift certificate was for Topside. The manager Kate couldn’t have been more accommodating. We had a lovely conversation with her. Our waitress Jana was amazing. She was so friendly and attentive. She treated us as if we were the only guests in the restaurant. I would highly recommend the lobster caprese. The presentation was beautiful and they certainly didn’t skimp on the lobster. The same for the lobster tacos. My husband had the mussels in a creamy wine sauce along with the steak which was cooked perfectly. It was a perfect anniversary dinner. We will be back...

Our nephew took us here on July 13th. We had Pina colada drinks which were not cheap and they were not even in glasses.They were served in plastic cups. Then we had lobster bisque soup which was horrible it was not hot and there was no fish in the soup, it was very salty and it looked like tomato sauce. I had better lobster bisque in a diner. The mussel that were suppose to be in a garlic wine sauce was in a white cream sauce. I don't know how much the bill was because my nephew paid and the tip was 40 dollars which we gave so that bill must of been about 200 dollars. We have been coming to the top side for many years as it is an institution in Montauk. Many changes have occurred and the Gosman family has kept a good part of the character that makes Montauk special. The addition of the Bagatellle restaurant is great for those that want to spend several thousand dollars on a meal. If you change the feeling at top side, you will lose the character of Montauk and it’s wonderful surroundings. Please don’t do that. Special people like Julie and Chris have made this a great spot.
