We had a very disappointing experience here. We were told the wait would be 30 to 45 minutes, which we were fine with. But after an hour, we politely asked about our table and were met with a nasty attitude.
At one point, one of us asked if everything was okay or if there was a problem. Instead of offering a simple response, she started making faces and moving her hands in a dramatic “what do you want me to do?” fashion. It was bizarre and unprofessional.
After a bit of back and forth, she told our entire group to leave, including five young children who had patiently waited over an hour for dinner. To really drive the point home, she raised her voice to make a scene as we were being kicked out, clearly trying to put on a show for the crowd.
Here’s the thing: running a business isn’t for everyone. And based on what we experienced, it’s clear this owner is having a very hard time doing so. Hospitality takes grace and professionalism, neither of which were on display. If she couldn’t handle us asking about our table, how would she handle rudeness or unhappy patrons?
We won’t be back, and I’d strongly encourage others to think twice.
Replying to owners claims:
Your response is filled with wild, baseless accusations and frankly, it’s embarrassing.
Not a single person in our group was intoxicated. We were dining with our children, including five young kids, so the idea that we were drunk and harassing staff is not only ridiculous, it’s a flat-out lie. The only person anyone had an issue with was you, because you were openly mocking a member of our family right in front of us.
Let’s be clear: no one screamed, no one punched anything, and no one skipped out on a bill (are you forgetting you had our card?). After your loud outburst and your decision to throw us out, one of our guests asked to close his tab and was told by your staff that he didn’t need to pay. Multiple members of your team came over to quietly apologize for your behavior. If your own staff is trying to make peace with guests on your behalf, that should tell you everything you need to know.
As for your threats to “show our photo to every local business” that’s just as over the top and unhinged as the way you acted tonight. It’s also completely unprofessional.
Your response doesn’t prove anything except that you’re more interested in being defensive than being accountable. Instead of reflecting on why multiple guests have walked away with the same impression of your attitude, you lash out with exaggerations and threats.
This kind of behavior might work for putting on a show in your restaurant, but it won’t work here. My review stands, and your response only...
Read moreI can’t even begin to describe how disgusted and unhappy I am with this place and I will make sure to spread the word to family and friends. First off, I have been coming to Inlet for years and have been coming to Montauk since I was a kid and have started this tradition with my own family and my children.
The bartenders were great. However, the hostess’ were very rude and did not respond nicely when asked how much longer it would be until we were seated as we have 2 young children one being an infant with us and we already waited almost 2 hours when we were told we would wait only an hour. My husband asked her nicely again and he was met with a nasty attitude and a “what would you like me to do people aren’t leaving”. I’m not sure what kind of response that is to a paying customer.
However, this led into the owner (as I read through these reviews this is becoming a trend I see) who approached the table that I was sitting at with my two sons and my husband and to drive her point home she said we weren’t going to be served because she was unsure why she was given a 1 star review. When she should have been asking how to make it right instead of causing a scene where other parties were shocked and appalled.
I think as the owner of an establishment of this kind the way this was handled was wrong and disgraceful. The food is everything but so is hospitality and professionalism and the owner seems to be having a very hard time with both.
My 7 year old son was hysterical crying because he heard we were being kicked out of a restaurant that he loves coming to and that his parents were not going to be served food. I also have a 9 month old baby who was eating also in the high chair during this time. The way this was handled was disgusting and could have been handled differently without my kids hearing what was going on as my husband asked the owner to not talk this way in front of the kids. I am so livid and disgusted by the outcome of this. I will never return to this establishment again and I suggest you think twice before...
Read moreWe had dinner here on a gorgeous Sunday 9/24/17. We thought we had arrived a little bit early at 5:30 but it turned out to be the perfect time because there was a moderate number of people in the restaurant and we were seated immediately on the outside deck overlooking Montauk Inlet and Lake Montauk. The waitress greeted us almost immediately and took our drink orders and a waiter showed up shortly after to deliver icewater and 3 very good warm dinner rolls to munch on while we enjoyed the view. For an appetizer I ordered a tuna/cucumber roll and my date had a nice spring mix salad with a ball of fried goat cheese on top. No surprises with the tuna/cucumber roll....it was good but pretty standard stuff. The salad was a large enough portion to share and was topped with a tasty dressing. For dinner I ordered the seafood fra diavolo over linquine which was just spicy enough and had plenty of clams, mussels, calamari, and shrimp for even the biggest shellfish lover. Portions are large here and can easily be split. My partner had the vegetarian pasta which was also very good. For dessert we had a warm deep dish apple cobbler (more like apple pie) with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream and whip cream on the side and a couple of cups of cappucino.
The view here is unbeatable, the service was very good, and the food is generally pretty good. Neither of us had an alcoholic drink, opting for soda and iced tea instead and the bill total was about $122.00 before tip. The restaurant can get quite busy, especially around sunset and the deck behind the bar where we were seated can get crowded with people taking pictures and drinking so it can get quite noisy. Another deck around back would probably be a better choice but also...
