Crafted Italia was a restaurant I found while searching for dinner locations near Lake Geneva. The restaurant is in The Ridge Hotel and there is plenty of parking – no fee. From the outside looking in, this hotel doesn’t appear “modern” or updated. However, upon walking in, this hotel has clearly been remodeled and the décor is modern and clean. The restaurant is located straight back from the main entrance. I loved the vibe of the restaurant – it was moody and romantic. There is a wall of windows that show a beautiful view of Lake Como. From there, you can also see the hotel terrace and outdoor space. It is beautiful, and after dinner, we did walk around the hotel grounds for a bit. I would recommend that as well.
As for our dinner, we made a reservation, which I always recommend when available. We were seated in a timely manner by a pleasant hostess. I visited in a group of three. We were seated at a table along the wall of windows. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. She arrived for our drink order promptly. The drink menu offers a selection of house cocktails as well as a plethora of wines for all palettes. For an appetizer, we order a Zeppole which in my opinion would be a crowd pleaser for most guests. They were cooked lovely with a side of red sauce. The serving size can easily be shared among a group of 4-6 people. Three people can also share the serving size for the Caesar salad as well. For entrees, we order a variety – Italian Stallion pizza, Lobster Ravioli and Spaghetti and Meatballs. The pizza was very good, and the crust was cooked just right. I think 4-5 people could easily share a pizza. The lobster ravioli was delightful. The spaghetti and meatballs dish was average. There was some concern with the meatballs though. It seemed it didn’t quite hold its shape as well as expected. However, the flavors were all there. Regarding price, I would say the per person cost was right around $60 including beverage and tip. This is what I would call a find dining Italian restaurant for the area, and I feel the prices and ambiance reflect that well. I would definitely recommend Crafted Italia for those visiting the Lake...
Read moreWe recently visited Crafted Italia for dinner. Our server started out nice enough, although she forgot which restaurant she was at and recommended food that was not offered at Crafted Italia. Fair enough mistake, however our experience got worse from there. We debated on appetizers, ultimately settling on one, the arancini, as the waitress shared that it was an excellent appetizer and would easily feed 4 people. She put in an order for both appetizers in error. Again, we overlooked this as a mistake and said nothing. However the arancini were not only cold but came with 3. While we were easily able to cut them in half so everyone could have some, I wouldn't have described this as "more than enough to share between 4 people." We let her know that they were cold and she offered to bring us new ones and remove it from our bill. The "replacement" arancini were so overcooked, it took real effort to even cut into them and they were clearly not fresh. On to our meals... one of our guests ordered the shrimp and linguini scampi with a wine sauce. She requested parmesan cheese, which our waitress took a full 15 minutes to bring to her. The parmesan helped some, but the noodles tasted as though they were served right out of the water and really had no taste at all. One of our guests ordered a pizza, which was excellent and far superior to any of our entrees. As we finished our meals, we waited another 20 minutes for her to bring us the check, as she appeared to be very busy talking and laughing with the host. The restaurant was far from full, there were about 2-3 other parties there. We expected more from a restaurant that is supposed to be of higher caliber. Very...
Read moreWhere to begin....We made Thanksgiving reservations to try the Thanksgiving Buffet. Came in at our scheduled time and we're promptly seated. The selection was plentifully and the food overall was very tasty. Biggest complaint and the reason for 2 stars is if I'm paying $60 per person, I would expect the food to be hot. It was not. Some dishes were warm( mashed potatoes, beef) however the carving station food was cold and the ham was nothing but scraps. It wasn't until the last hour of the buffet that everything was replenished and came out hot. A little too late since we had already served ourselves. Very disappointed. 2nd was the pricing. I don't understand how they can charge $60 for an 11 yr old child that only ate a quarter of the plate. The age should be changed to 8-12 yrs old charged child price $20 per child considering they don't eat that much. Lastly, I find it presumptuous and pretty ridiculous that gratuity is automatically added at 20% for a buffet style meal. I mean we did go and get our own plates, we served our own dessert and coffee, so why am I forced to pay a server to pick up my plates and bring me 4 glasses of water??? Overall, I'm sure if we went on another occasion to have a regular meal the experience might be better. But this experience was very very disappointing for the price we paid and the minimal service received. Be aware of what to expect for the...
