Food is great - no question. Unfortunately, this visit was possibly the last... Ordered food and sat down to wait to eat. Two other tables showed up in between - and were served their more complex orders to larger crowds. While waiting, asked if we could change our order from a half to full rack of ribs - told no problem, they were just starting on the order. Meanwhile, an hour later, and three queries later, we still did not have our food (2 sandwiches and the rack of ribs). Finally received our food and went to settle up the difference between the full and half rack and were told that we had to pay the full price for a second half rack because we had paid for the initial order already - a $10 difference in price.
A little better communication and organization in the kitchen would go a long way and make me want to come back - the food is seriously good. It's a shame to find such issues with what would be a good, family run option for food otherwise. I want to support the small independents, but don't make me wait forever and then...
Read moreThe place was interesting and seemed family friendly, decorated in Christian artwork. the lady at the window was on her cellphone when we arrived, so we waited for her to finish her call. There wasn't soap in the bathrooms which is tricky with BB, but there was hand sanitizer. My family waited over half an hour for the food. When it arrived the sauce couldn't stick to the ribs because they were boiled and dripping with water. I tried to eat them, but they were very tough and the boiling washed out the flavor. The fried chicken had a great crunch but the meat was dry. The cornbread was overcooked and dry. If we were given butter, I probably could've eaten the cornbread. The potato salad was undersalted and was loaded with relish. I had to cut the potato to eat it because it comes in large chunks. The fried okra was the only part of the meal I enjoyed. My sister commented that she'd never had food that bad before, even from a gas station. I paid over $75 to have the worst bbq of my life, and in that way at least my family has made a...
Read moreFood was excellent. I ordered the whole wing dinner with fried okra and crinkle fries and my husband ordered the haddock dinner with greens and fried okra. No complaints at all. Food was fresh, seasoned well and hot. They cook the meat to order so be prepared to wait but it is well worth it. The owner and his wife are wonderful people. He also builds tiny homes( in case you need one) and showed us his latest creation. His story is amazing from buying a small hotdog stand and building it out with his own hands. Portions are large so be prepared to take food with you. The owner even gave us a sample of some food he was cooking(chicken and rice). Everything tasted like momâs or grandmaâs cooking. Note that the greens do not contain meat( based on the request of prior diners) but were still seasoned well and tasted great. The sweet potato pie is delicious, the slices are huge. This is a hidden...
