TLDR: Mediocre - the food, service and atmosphere was not woth the $100.
We've been coming to the Whistling Swan for date night dinner for almost a decade & decided to try this out since it's at the same location. I was ready to spend $100-$200 but we didn't & skipped out quickly.
Service: Mediocre -Waitor didn't care to be there and it showed - no welcome, no smile, please, or thank you etc. This was the first significant annoyance -He was wearing baggy pants, unshaven, white tennis shoes that were muddy. -our waitor was at the bar on his phone while we had finished and were looking for the bill -but... we got the food quickly
Food: Ok to poor -Filet mignon was poor, well-done with no browning when medium was requested. The dryness was only compensated by how much butter was available in the mashed potatoes. To be honest, I don't think the cut was a filet mignon.. or it had been precooked and was being slow roasted - $55. -Half chicken was undercooked in parts where my wife didn’t feel conforable eating it - au gratin potatoes very dry. -Rose wine was stale. Offer fewer options if you don't go through it within a day. -Broccoli was terrible - stocks hard, head was mush, appearances of char, zero seasoning - idk how they achieved this.
Atmosphere: They tried -Restaurant smelled of faint bar rag, but you get used to it. -You can see what style they're attempting, but there are still remnants and it ends up feeling Prohibition / Coastal / Bed&Breakfast theme. -The cook was seen sitting at the chairs in the hotel lobby on his phone while we passed tables waiting...

Let’s start with the food. If you like unseasoned and bland food, this place is for you! STAY AWAY from the stir fry. My bowl of cheerios I had this morning had more flavor. Frozen vegetables and overcooked rice, yuck! My wife had the filet and it was average at best; lacked flavor and the selection of sides were more to be desired. Ended up leaving and throwing some frozen pizzas in the oven which had much more flavor than what we had.
The atmosphere is very nice, fun and quaint. No piano player which was a bummer but not a deal breaker.
I’m not sure our waitress even knew what day of the week it was. The service was lackluster and frustrating to say the least. Also failed to tell us that soft drinks were not free refills. Pretty petty move if you ask me.
We really wanted to love this place but we left severely disappointed. Never again...
Read moreWe were so disappointed. We wanted to love this place. The service was pretty good although they didn’t check in very often. The vibe is nice and that is where the experience ends. We ordered The Chump. Only chump here was us. Obviously frozen calamari that was rubbery and the tentacles almost burnt. By boyfriend had the Chilean Sea Bass and said it was “pretty good”. Rice and broccoli were almost cold. I got the filet. Someone please tell these people what a filet is! The meat was cooked perfectly but I had to saw through the meat to get a bite. This reminded me more of top sirloin than a filet. The haricot verte we’re almost cool and not seasoned. The au gratin potatoes were passable but nothing special. This place has great potential and I hope they make the...
