A good place for those who like good food, good drinks, and a good sense of humor - not a good place for those who demand it their way (that’s what Burger King is for), drink like amateurs (that’s what Applebee’s is for), or behave like children (that’s what Chuck E Cheese’s is for). If you want some of the most unique and lovingly prepared food on the peninsula, this is your place - they offer no substitutions because it’s already perfect. If you want one of the widest alcohol selections, and maybe the ONLY place on the peninsula that knows what a Painkiller is, this is your place - they don’t have Miller Lite because it’s cheap swill, and you can get it literally anywhere else. And if you want homemade condiments tailored specifically to the dishes, this is your place - they don’t offer ketchup because they’re in the business of providing carefully curated flavors, not stomach cancer. Plus, they hire friendly, knowledgeable, local (which you can’t say about most places in Door County) staff, and have awesome bands on the weekends - what’s not to love? I’ve been a tourist, a seasonal worker, a local, and everything in-between for 41 years, and this is one of my favorite additions to the peninsula. Viva la Calle Colina!

The Hill Street Bar in Fish Creek was a true disappointment. We liked the cozy feel. When we sat at the bar the bartender greeted us promptly. But there wasn’t a smile to be had the whole time. She told us there were no substitutions on the menu and everything is ala cart. I ordered a corn dog. My husband a burger, we split fries. When our food came, I asked for ketchup and mustard. The bartender said they don’t have k&m. I said your kidding. She said “no, we only have highway 42 sauce”. I say what’s that made of? She says” Mayo , Ketsup and siracha” Wait what?!? Shouldn’t “No ketsup or mustard! “ be posted somewhere? What restaurant doesn’t have Ketchup or Mustard? Word to the wise, if you want to try this place, bring your own condiments! After owner reply: No that doesn't make me happy! I'm sorry that you took such an extreme action with the bartender. Maybe a customer service talk or something might have worked. I wouldn't be happy either if I were 8mo pregnant behind the bar. But thank you for adding ketsup and mustard. Your customers will be happier.

Another amazing dinner at one of my favorite places! My only difficulty at Hill Street is figuring out what to order, since everything on the menu tastes so great! The owners are a very sweet family that put their hearts, passion and integrity into building this restaurant and menu. I love that it’s not like every other menu out there, there are a lot of picky eaters so I get that it might not be for everyone with no substitutes or modifications. But that’s ok! I’ve had so many items on the menu and everything is seasoned and sauced perfectly, The Kurgan Burger is the best in Door County and Vinny’s Meatball Parm Sub made with homemade marinara and homemade meatballs is a comfort food lovers dream! Tonight I had the O.G Salad and Charred Broccoli, I’m so full and happy, can’t wait for my next meal! Keep up the great work Hill Street, what you provide is unique and appreciated.

My friends and I came here because I’ve been multiple times and the food is wonderful. We appreciate how much effort they put into their menu.

The night a started great and the atmosphere was 5/5 - music was amazing (niche indie rock was BUMPING, Christmas lights were on point and Bob Ross as always). But then some locals came in and the bartender turned off the music and started playing an entire episode of “Live PD” over the loud speakers instead (fully replacing the music, so there was no way to just ignore it). After 15 minutes we forwent a second round and closed out our tabs. It is really disappointing to have to leave a bad review, but hearing a man scream from being tased with police officers shouting was obviously a terrible experience. I kid you not, the episode had a part where they were soliciting child predators and reading out loud disgusting texts - which is obviously terrible to listen to while eating.

I see that the owner responds to bad reviews, so I hope that they see this and sees how bizarre our experience was. We were having such a great time, but our group felt super uncomfortable and had to cut our dinner (and tab) short. Happy to provide a receipt if the owner has any questions.

EDIT: We were uncomfortable while leaving and the 4 people at the bar (only other people there) said “this separates the locals from the tourists” and “they [the cops] should shoot him [man who is actively screaming and being tased]”. Also the bartenders said “oh this is a good episode” when she turned it on. So you can empathize with how we didn’t feel like telling a group of friends to stop watching their show would make us feel at home - since the ambiance was 6ft under at that point and it was just our two groups left. It is not our job to police (lol) the bar’s atmosphere - since it’s not our bar.

We will happily come back, if you can acknowledge that playing cops on full blast at 7:45 PM and keeping it on throughout everything explained above (literally cops shouting and a man screaming for 2 minutes), is not the greatest decision. I’d say it’s probably something the bartender should know isn’t appropriate when there are other people other than their regulars. Otherwise, if you’re fine with the atmosphere and power dynamic that I described, then people should be aware.

EDIT 2: I’ve written a review for other people to understand what your restaurant can be like based on my experience. I’ve tried to be understanding to what happened and give you feedback that isn’t asking for much. But it sounds like during the exceedingly rare circumstances where something goes wrong, and a customer has a sub-optimal experience, you won’t accept an iota of responsibility. You minimized my experience by saying “well why didn’t you say anything”, but when I explain why, you say I’m lecturing you. We are so far from my initial review of “screaming cops and thirst trapping child predators on max volume = bad bar ambience”. My “ultimatum” is just asking if that’s the atmosphere that you’re cool with occurring on rare occasions (but wouldn’t happen for future guests if you brought up this complaint...

We went here last Friday night after taking a Door County Ghost Tour. We did so because the website said they served food and drinks till 2AM. Now this wasn’t even close to 2AM but it was probably 10PM, and if you know anything about Door County everything basically shuts down after 8PM. Which we know which I why we decided to try this place because of what the website said they offered food, and yes, technically there is food available to you late night, but it’s a very small menu, limited options, basically bar food. We got the Mexican Street Corn dip which was absolutely delicious. Not a dinner worthy meal, but for bar food it was really good. Drinks were standard fair, but good. The service was great. Despite acting a little annoyed that two people walked in at 10:00, I also work in the restaurant business so I get it. You almost had an empty bar, and now two more people when you want to try to close up, that being said the bartender was kind and courteous and served us well. I would 100% go back for the Mexican street corn dip, (I’ll probably be dreaming about it, it was so good).. and maybe next time we will show up earlier for dinner. It’s only a four star review for the food because if you are going to offer a late night food menu or say you do on your website, at least offer a bit more than what your offering. Something that could be considered a meal, or state on the website limited bar menu after a certain time but open for...

Let me start by saying, I love Hill Street and I literally dream about the OG Salad, I have full text threads with my friends about how delicious that salad is and how often we crave it!

After reading a handful of eyebrow-raising meh reviews, I felt inclined to craft my own to share the absolutely positive experience I had there. A friend and I were bopping around and decided that the outdoor bar spots looked like a perfect place to post up for lunch and a drink, so we did just that.

We were promptly and kindly greeted by the bartender who was friendly and gave us a once over of the menu. As someone who is rather indecisive, I valued the no substitutions clause as it encouraged me to try things as they were intended to be, and showed me that there was passion, pride and integrity in the dishes just as they are. Operationally speaking, it makes complete sense; making a quality product and having the ability replicate it allows for consistency in product and timed delivery. Something I can appreciate, and did when my food came out hot, fresh and fast!

Anywhooo, my friend and I split the OG salad (legit a thing of dreams), the charred broccoli (the best broccoli I’ve ever had), I had the Bahn Scott (yum!) and she had the Harry Dean (so good!)…and we both had no regrets! We left happy, very full and with a new fave spot to add to our list next time we come back to Fish Creek, and we’ll...
