I will start off saying that this review is VERY biased, but it's only biased because I've been coming here since they opened and they have convinced me time after time after time that they are the best around.
We moved to the neighborhood several years ago, and as fate wanted it, J&T's opened the following weekend. What could be better than a little cafe opening two blocks from your house? How about a GREAT little cafe opening two blocks from your house.
AT this point, I've either had myself, or a family member or friend has had 90% of the menu, and somehow I have never heard a single complaint about any food item. It's just all fresh, well cooked and well presented food. I have my favorites of course, but I always find myself finding something new on the daily specials or something I haven't had in a few months.
It's close, but possibly the only thing better than the food is the staff. The owner and his wife are beyond friendly and you really feel like they are welcoming you into their home for a meal. The wait staff just go out of their way to make you feel cared for and deliver the delicious food with a smile and usually some friendly chit chat.
I cannot lie, I love everything about this place. It's easily my favorite restaurant and between eat in and take out we probably go here 3-4 times a week. Depending on the time of day I swear I can go in and the waitress could start my order before I even sit down. It's nice being a regular at such a...
Read moreGoing to try to keep this short and sweet but I could go on for days about how great this place is. My husband and I moved up the street from J&Ts last year and regret the months that went by before trying this place because now we are hooked and can't go anywhere else. My father travels 40minutes to eat here and then brings all of his friends with him and then they end up coming back as well. The wait staff and chefs are amazing, they become your instant friends/family. The fellow customers are also always nice, its just a nice positive environment and great place to get a great meal and have a few laughs before work or to start off your weekend. Every meal tastes homemade like your Grandma just whipped it up for you. The specials are always new and interesting but their regular menu is great as well, and you can't beat the prices. If you are a soup lover for this colder weather don't waste your time going anywhere else. If you aren't a local its well worth the trip and I'm willing to bet you will get hooked as well. Thank you J&Ts for being awesome and getting me off the hook for cooking a few...
Read moreScotia needed a great breakfast and lunch place that accepts debit/credit cards and J&T's Family Café fills the gap deliciously. My husband and I have been a couple of times for breakfast since they opened and each time they are busier so the word must be getting out. Clean and quaintly decorated, diners can watch the chefs preparing food in the open kitchen. The wait staff seem to share tables so someone is always checking on you and refilling your cup of coffee. They might forget to point our the specials board which is hanging on the wall to the right of the kitchen. My husband most recently ordered one of the daily specials - a filet mignon skillet and it was delicious - tender beef, potatoes, mushrooms, peppers eggs, cheese, and a rich brown gravy. I opted for the Veggie Benedict (even though I was VERY tempted by the Smores French Toast special) and especially appreciated the use of fresh mushrooms. I cleaned my plate and was fully satisfied for hours. I'm looking forward to enjoying lunch there very soon. Welcome to...
