*underhyped* I don’t know that I’ve ever described a restaurant as such, but despite the plethora of great reviews I still feel that this place is underhyped considering the quality of not only the food itself, but the overall experience which we received during our visit last night. I admittedly messed up while booking our dinner reservation but the lovely hostess (I did not catch her name) was kind and accommodating and able to seat us despite there being a very full house. Paul, our server was attentive without being annoying. At no point were our drinks empty nor were we searching for him despite his having many other tables to attend to, and he was very clearly knowledgeable of the standard menu as well as the daily specials which were offered to us. The food itself was nothing short of magical (and I can find fault with nearly any plate put in front me)! From the presentation to the textures and flavors themselves, everything which we ordered (the daily special app of roasted Brussels Sprouts, as well as the whipped ricotta app, truffled lobster mac, and Farmhouse burger) was absolutely spot on. Honestly just the crostini itself was so delicious that I could probably eat just that plain for the remainder of my life and die a very happy girl! My husband, who orders a burger everywhere that we go said that the Farmhouse was the best burger that he could recall having gotten from anywhere, ever in his entire life. And after trying a bite myself I understand why he said this - not only was it actually cooked to a perfect medium rare, but the FLAVOR was exquisite! My lobster was tender and the truffle flavor was present without being overbearing. The sprouts were cooked perfectly and had such an amazing balance of sweet/spicy/smokey they easily could have been offered as a full and fulfilling entree. Chef Seth left us nearly speechless with these dishes and their execution. I honestly could carry on further with rave reviews but will let the pictures say the rest at this point. But all in all I would recommend Farmhouse Tap + Tavern to anyone. Support this local eatery which uses local foods. It is worth (more than) every penny!

The vibe is not what we expected. The Farmhouse is for marketing only, there is nothing farmhouse about it, but it was a bucket list place to go and try out, so we did. The service was congenial, friendly and professional, but seemed like they couldn't be attentive and were stressed, probably because the rooms are divided in ways that makes it difficult to attend to tables. However, the staff, servers, and runners didn't seem to know the menu that well and put off when questions were asked. There was no, "let me ask the kitchen/chef." Definitely over-priced, especially the New England clam chowder soup @ $9 (pictured). I asked if it had been sitting around all day and separated, but she had no clue what I was talking about. It came out as fine as a can of Progresso or Campbells soup. So, editable and not exceptionable. Overall, the Farmhouse Tap & Tavern is close to farms, but they seemingly have nothing to do with them. I'll consider this to be upscale pup. The menu is not ground breaking, but well-executed for what it is. I would eat here again if someone really wanted to go, but wouldn't make a point to go back. I don't think they were pretending to be something they weren't. This is my personal impression and experience.

Ate like a King last night. This was my first experience at the Farmhouse Tap & Tavern. I didn’t know what to expect. But this place exceeded any expectations I could’ve had. Starting off with a wood fired cheese pizza as an appetizer, this helped to set the tone for the rest of the meal. The crust was thin but crispy, with a golden brown hue. Next came the entree, the ginger and maple salmon along with a side of broccoli and sweet potato. I also opted to add a side of fries and small Mac n cheese. Each contributed in its own way culminating in a most exquisite main course. And finally, I ended my stay with the toll house cookie pie with ice cream and whip cream. I was already full by this time but forced myself to eat it because of how good it was. Overall, there was nothing I would change about this meal. P.S. Drink of choice was a cranberry and seltzer. Final score: 10/10

Review:

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Farmhouse Tap and Tavern, and I am thrilled to give it a glowing five-star review for its exceptional food, four stars for the service, and five stars for the atmosphere. It truly offers a delightful dining experience that combines delicious cuisine, a pleasant ambiance, and attentive service.

Let's start with the food. The culinary offerings at Farmhouse Tap and Tavern are outstanding. The menu showcases a farm-to-table concept, featuring locally sourced ingredients that result in dishes bursting with flavor and freshness. Each bite was a testament to the quality and craftsmanship of the ingredients. From their succulent burgers and perfectly cooked steaks to their creative and flavorful vegetarian options, the attention to detail and dedication to culinary excellence were evident in every dish.

Moving on to the atmosphere, Farmhouse Tap and Tavern creates an inviting and warm environment. The rustic yet modern decor, combined with the cozy seating arrangements, creates a comfortable and relaxed ambiance. Whether you're enjoying a meal with friends or having a romantic dinner, the atmosphere at Farmhouse Tap and Tavern sets the stage for a memorable dining experience.

While the food and atmosphere were exceptional, I would rate the service as four stars. The staff members were friendly and knowledgeable, providing helpful suggestions and accommodating any special requests. However, there were a few instances where the service could have been more attentive and prompt. Despite this minor drawback, the overall service did not significantly detract from the overall enjoyment of the meal.

In summary, Farmhouse Tap and Tavern is a fantastic dining destination that deserves high praise. With its exceptional food, delightful atmosphere, and friendly service, it offers a memorable experience for food enthusiasts and those looking to savor a farm-to-table culinary journey. I highly recommend Farmhouse Tap and Tavern for a remarkable dining experience that will leave you satisfied and...

My husband and I had dinner here for the first time last night (14-Dec) to celebrate my birthday and our experience was a bit mixed.

To start with the positives – the restaurant is very nice, the staff was lovely, my cocktail was delicious, and the food tasted great.

However, I want to point out that the main courses we ordered per the menu were not what we received.

I ordered the duck breast with sweet potato polenta, cracked salt, cherry + fig whiskey compote, pistachio cream, roasted veg. I received a duck breast atop a cold cream, with compote, however instead of sweet potato polenta there was a pile of plain mashed potatoes, and the roasted veg looked to be sautéed green beans with cubes of steamed carrot.

My husband ordered the steak medallions (sous vide sirloin), béarnaise sauce, roasted veg, roasted fingerlings. He received steak medallions with a sauce, again accompanied by a pile of plain mashed potatoes (instead of roasted fingerlings), sautéed green beans with cubes of steamed carrot.

When the server brought us a menu he did specify that they were out of one dish, and that the new menu started the next day, but there was no mention of any other substitutions so we were a bit surprised to receive the above dishes. That said, both of our meals were delicious, and we ate every bite, but I was disappointed that I didn’t receive the dish I had been looking forward to for several days, and there was no heads up that we would receive anything different than the menu items. Had that been the case we may have ordered differently.

I didn’t take any photos or make a fuss at the time because that’s not how I operate, and I contemplated even leaving a review because the food was cooked well and tasty, but having had a night to mull it over it seemed right to share our experience, if only so that the owners/managers will be aware and be more transparent with their customers about their dishes.

As much as I want to support local businesses, I’m not sure I want to return to a restaurant that isn’t delivering on what they are...
