I love the Village of Hamburg, it is so walkable, friendly, and well cared for, and this restaurant reflects this sentiment. The servers were easy to reach, speak to, and ask questions of. Everyone was knowledgeable and skilled, and respected our conversation. The ambience here is something you have to experience for yourself, but it was so warm and inviting, they outdid themselves with the decor and lighting scheme...no joke we talked about it for the rest of the night. The cocktails were beautiful and delicious, and there was a broad selection of unique combinations of fruits, vegetables and herbs. You absolutely MUST try the cucumber drink, we will be making those at home in the coming weeks. Now the food - I will quote another member of my party: "I think that was the best porkchop I have ever had in my life." As for myself, I have never tasted anything similar to the tofu I had here, and it was just so tasty and unique. The kimchi flavor made me do something I've never done before in my life - I went home and ate every last bite of my leftovers that same night! The presentation of these dishes speak for themselves. It's been an ongoing and affirming discussion between us regarding how gorgeous these dishes were before they were picked clean. Emphatic compliments to the chef.

The deviled egg appetizer was good, but nothing to write home about...the brussel sprout appetizer was okay but quite greasy... The tzatziki pita appetizer was okay, nothing to write home about, the pita was warm and soft, the tzatziki was....meh. The brussel sprouts were browned and the pork belly was not too fatty but we wouldn't order either again. The burger was decent ,quite charred. the french fries are frozen, not fresh..the fish fry was so soft, great texture, not slimy at all, the batter was extremely airy, light and crisp, very great piece of fish, unfortunately the tartar sauce was rather bland and the only distinguishable flavor of it was salt. . my friend said the tomahawk pork chop with vegetables was fantastic also. The carrot cake was homemade, really great and something we would definitely order again. The cream cheese frosting was so good and the texture was nice and dense, not whipped. Coleslaw was not great, with a vinegary flavor according to my friend. We had dinner on a Wednesday and all of the food came out pretty quickly and the service was great. The restaurant is quite small and cramped. The parking lot for the restaurant is super tiny so if you go on a weekend plan on trying to find parking on the street.

Design and furnishings are all very well done. Good branding and service we received was also good. That said, the food was very below average, especially for the price. Both the appetizer and sandwich I got were one texture (mushy) with no crispy contrast and very underseasoned. The sandwich in particular was extra "one note" mushy and flavorless. A little salt and seasoning would go miles. But also there needs to be some textural consideration so the whole thing isn't just a wet mushy mass. The salad my wife got was also just bizarre. A rolled up strip of cucumber held together a handful of just plain lettuce, a single tomato on the side and two tiny little pieces of Avacado toast that were portioned for a small child. Most bizarre part was the dressing which was essentially just a small cup of orange juice. Got the bill and it was $91? For what we got, the quality of the food, and the portion sizes I cannot justify coming back to this place without major upheaval in menu direction and execution. I don't mind paying more for good food but the food should be exceptional for these prices. Very dissapointed.

My husband and I had reservations on Christmas eve for 8 pm. First we had to stand at the coat check for 5 minutes because the lady at the coat check could not find the coats and scarves of 3 customers who were ready to leave. Then the hostess seated us and told us that someone would be with us shortly. She returned a moment later with 2 glasses of water. we waited and waited and nobody was coming to take cocktail orders and bring menus. At 8.30 pm, after waiting for 25 minutes, my husband got up and went to see the man standing at the coat check; he told him he would take care of it right away. This man ended up being our waiter; he quickly apologized (nothing very deep) and brought the cocktails cards over. We finally had our first sip of drink 45 minutes after we sat down. You would think that the cocktails would have been on the house for the trouble but it was not! Our waiter was awful and really did not have the basis of what good customer service is. At least the food was very good but when you pay $180 for 2 people for dinner, you expect a waiter to be at the top of his game and an establishment that should make sure that customers are taken care of properly and waited on the right way. We had not been there in 3 years and will never go again. Too bad Rue Franklin in Buffalo is now closed because any personnel there could have taught good manners to...
