Rodney's — Restaurant in Town of Hamburg

Overall, I found the dining experience mediocre. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good, either.

The food was okay. The fried food was pretty standard fare, nothing to write home about, but the chicken fingers were definitely the wrong ratio (too much Frank's, not enough butter). The soup was good, although one of ours came out lukewarm, so not the greatest showing. And the dinner salad was good, but nothing spectacular.

But the dinner, which I was expecting to be impressed by, wasn't. The fries were simple frozen ones (though thankfully not shoestring), so nothing to write home about. The lobster tail was rubbery and tasted a little fishy. It wasn't too bad once lemon and butter was added, but it also wasn't impressive.

My partner got fried scallops, which were equally mediocre. They had a distinctly "old fryer oil" taste when first bit into, then a nice scallop flavor, and then ended with a strong fishy taste. They also were properly cleaned, and gritty scallops aren't that great.

Service was alright. Most of the servers seemed uninterested and distant, and they didn't come over that much. Food also took a very long time to arrive (which, to be fair, is likely not the servers fault), at over an hour. And, when the check did finally come out, it had an entry on it that we didn't order.

So, again, overall was pretty 'meh.' I don't see myself going back...

On a long road trip just wanted to stop for a nice meal thought a small town place with good reviews would be nice but nope. Was greeted by a rude host that took over 5 mins to come back to the front to seat us. Then they tried to move us after we were already sat. Waitress was very spacey and not giving us the time of day, took our drink order and ran off before we could order our food( when we already knew what we wanted due to sitting there for over 10mins). Brought the drinks 8mins later ( when all but two of us got waters) and again ran off before we could order again. Sat there for another 20 mins watching other tables get seated and orders in plus watching “our” waitress going outside and back with nothing and spending forever in the back. Once she walked past us for the 10th time without saying anything we decided to leave as it wasn’t worth it. Left money on the table and were loading in the car when she finally decided to run after us yelling and starting a commotion in front of two 7 year olds saying we still owed for the pops and that we weren’t waiting that long and that we were in the wrong. Would not recommend if you actually wanna be served and get food within the same...

Ok well to start, the atmosphere is rather south buffalo trashy... but given the area... fine. Now the menu, while it seems varied and diverse is lacking in substance. Our server today was absolutely horrible. She had absolutely ZERO personality and seemed bothered when we asked for drink refills or extra napkins. She never once got a refill because she noticed the drink was getting low. Then the food... everything was presented in a sort of street vendor way. Nothing to write home about, but not bad. The chicken fingers were over cooked and were lacking flavor. The potato skins also had no flavor and were literally dripping grease when picked up. Their blue cheese dip was some of the worst I've had. The burgers were decent but again, no flavor. Basically this place fails as a restaurant and should go back to being a bar. I know this restaurant's history well and at this rate they will write themselves into history on their own. I would suggest going somewhere where the food will have taste and the service will be polite... but that seems to be harder and harder to find...
