Tom's Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Town of Hanover

Lived here for a couple years now and we love going to Aunt Millie's restaurant, But every time we drive by Tom's, we say we need to try it and never do. Perhaps we are too focused on Aunt Millie's desserts! Well we finally went to Tom's and everything was fantastic! We are actually mad at ourselves for not coming here sooner.

The hot turkey and gravy was the best I've ever had. No deli lunch meat in this - no siree - I'm talking REAL chunks of fresh turkey in this bad boy!!! I got it with mashed potatoes and gravy. The potatoes come with little chunks of the skin in it. I personally prefer my mashed potatoes without the skin - but I gotta admit - it was still really good. If U like your mashed potatoes with the skin in it, then U are in luck. Also got a side of French fries that were great.

The other dish we got was the Open Soulvaki - also fantastic! The chicken was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. No wilted lettuce here! And the pita was nice and fresh - not hard and stale like U get at some places.

On top of all that, the staff was pleasant and friendly. By the time we left, we were exchanging jokes with them. We can't wait...

It took an hour from placing our order to receive it the waitress didn't care at all she took our drink order and as soon as the name was said just stopped listening then came back and threw 4 straws on the table literally threw them at the center of the table the roast beef on weck the entire plate was covered in a quarter inch of juice and the roll looked like they soaked it in the juice entirely soggy mush , my niece ordered a milkshake and was in a regular size glass which would have been fine if it wasn't basically just milk Maybe a spoonful of ice cream. The chicken fingers were the size of a child's meal, the waiter was nice but not punctual ask for a refill your waiting 5 to 10 minutes for it... They weren't slammed either, also there were a bunch of flies flying around and ants crawling around of the floor that didn't look like it had been swept all day , the bathroom was disgusting there was poop all over the toilet seat it was an overall bad experience I highly do not...

This place was GREAT! We stopped here on our route home to NW Ohio from Niagara Falls. Just Google searched places on our way. The location was perfect for our travels and it looked and sounded good. We were greeted the second we walked in. We were seated quickly and had our sodas in a flash. Our waitress was Tara and she provided great service. I had the Reuben sandwich (on wheat instead of rye) with French fries. The sandwich was AMAZING and the fries were cooked PERFECTLY. My partner had the chicken breast sandwich with fries and said both were very good. Prices were very decent and the quality of food was good. The atmosphere was cozy and I felt very comfortable. The bathrooms were also clean and presentable. Too bad it's so far from home, because I would come here regularly. I HIGHLY recommend this place if you want something different, hot, and "down home" type food. We were quite happy we chose this stop. Thanks for making our "dreading vacation is over" trip so...
