Maybe in these days of “Help Wanted” signs on eating establishments, you begin to expect a drop in services. We went to the Waterfront Tavern and were directed to a nice outdoor table overlooking the water. I ordered the fish special with walleye. The fish was very good. The rest of the experience was subpar. My tablemate had the lobster bisque or better named, colored pink broth and found it lackluster. It contained no bits of any seafood. It was $6.95. Another ordered butter crumb haddock and again the fish was good, but the side of green beans tasted of freezer burn. All the fish entrees were $19.99 and were a good portion, certainly not huge. The fries and coleslaw deserved no adjectives, simply fries and coleslaw- no specialty. My conclusion is that you can expect good fish but the sides are not unique. And, there is “no rice” as the waitress told us. A Mai Tai drink along the water brings to mind a fruity drink in a sparkling glass with a green sprig or a piece of fruit, but at $8.00 prepare for a flimsy plastic glass and a dull pink drink on ice. I personally settled for the bottle of Summer Shandy at $4.50. It came in a firm bottle which didn’t spill like the flimsy plastic glass of water that the waitress planted in my lap. Accidents happen, but helping me get another chair or wiping the table might have made the spill less annoying. Other patrons were more helpful than staff. When the check arrived I was surprised by the upcharge of $3.75 for using a credit card. I did not see any signs on the door saying cash only but supposedly I should have seen the mention on the menu even if I simply ordered the special. My conclusion, when going to the waterfront tavern: enjoy the view, stick with the fish, bring over $100 in cash and hold onto your plastic glass. Oh, and remember to get your dessert elsewhere. Read moreI am not someone to write reviews but after the numerous disappointing visits to Water Front I felt the need to write this.... Let me start by saying I am not a picky eater. One of my bad experience was a few months ago when we went there to eat. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and my boyfriend ordered a mandarin chicken wrap...45 minutes after ordering, still no food & the place was not busy at all!...My chicken was so rubbery I couldn't cut it with a knife let alone eat it and my boyfriends wrap wasn't awful but definitely not good. Our waitress apologized for it taking so long numerous times. I must add she was an absolute doll, I don't remember her name though...Last night we decided to take our boat there, not many options of places to dock so we decided to give water front another try....I ordered a burger (can't really mess that up) and my boyfriend ordered the Mahi Mahi special ($17.99) his piece of fish was about the size of my fist....SUPER small but that doesn't matter because it was so rubbery and slimy that it was not eatable...My burger was ok, but over $10 for a burger is a bit much....If this place wasn't on the water and had the location that it has then they would go out of business, ask any local around. Everyone I talk to about this place has the same opinion that I have..It stinks & its way over priced...keep driving your better off at the McDonald...
Read moreThis place has a great building with a good view in a convenient spot. My girlfriend and I came here around 7:30 pm and stood in the entry way for 3 minutes not knowing where to go. Some guy told us to sit anywhere. Was not wearing a uniform or anything, so we sat down. Took 15 minutes to get a menu.
We ordered, the soup was great. I tried to order the haddock and so did my son but they were all out, he asked for grilled cheese and they didn't have that either for some reason. So he had chicken. We got an appetizer for $9, nachos. They were just tostino nachos with some misc toppings. Pretty good but not worth $9.
We all sat with empty drinks for awhile. Her salad with her scampi was small and on a plate. The dressing came out in a little plastic cup which was weird. Salad did not come in a bowl. The shrimp in the scampi was good, the noodles were bland.
I got the philly steak sandwich, the fries were good and the beans were good. The meat was devoid of flavor and the bread was just Walmart bread, falling apart, and not good. Entire sandwich was just "meh". The meal cost us $67 for a bowl of soup, kids meal, 2 adult meals and an appetizer. Then we tipped $7 for some reason. Really over priced, happy that I had the experience with my girlfriend and son but definitely a...
