DISCRIMINATION against MILITARY & POC. I have visited this bar twice within the past few months and they were both horrendous experiences I wish I could have never encountered. I'm going to inform everyone of the more recent incident. I arrived with a group of 5 a few Saturday's ago and the place was packed due to a concert. My girlfriend and her sister both were able to get in with no issues (they're both Caucasian). The three of us in the group remaining were held up and then given an extremely difficult time about our ID's. Specifically, my female cousin who is serving active duty in the Army. She was only in town for the weekend with emergency leave due to a funeral in the family which makes this whole situation that much worse. She showed her military ID and the owner (Shane) and his presumed brother who were checking for IDs at the door refused to accept her valid ID and stared at it looking confused and befuddled. I began asking them what the issue was and they refused to answer. I explained to them that she's actively serving this great country and they remained mute. They began playing dumb and saying they've never seen a military ID in the past. They then proceeded to ask where the DOB was. (If they can't read or identify where the DOB is on an ID then I don't think these certain individuals should be held responsible for checking IDs, let alone running a bar.. just my opinion) Maybe this is why they've been having sting operations at their establishment due to underage drinkers.. they continued to refuse her entry. They asked my cousin for a second form of ID (state ID), then a third (credit card) then a fourth (debit card). At that point it was clear what was going on.. although I knew much earlier what their intentions were. This ordeal lasted about 10 minutes. I have never seen someone in the military receive such disrespect in the United States. At this point I was disgusted by the situation and to think that Shane is the one that owns this bar tells you how he operates the business. Our entire group of 5 left the bar and took our business to Home Team Pub which is an infinitely better option. I strongly dislike accusing anyone of racism because I would never want to tarnish someone's name or business without reason but I'll let you decide that. Thanks Shane, for showing me why I will never return to Wild Horse. God Bless and I pray that you learn...
Read moreI recommend the Wild Horse if you are local... and don't have pets with you. It has very interesting decor and looks to be a fun spot to spend some time.
I would visit if local and others wanted to go there. I would not travel very far out of my way to attend.
A KEY reason we visited the Wild Horse is that they allowed pets in the outdoor seating ares when we were visiting while boating on Oneida Lake in the past. Note the key past tense... . Once there we were told that they no longer allow pets and had to do take out and eat on our boat. The other restaurants were inundated with boaters due to the wing run going on the same day so we decided take out as the best option as the Wild Horse was not too busy. We did not see the no pets noted on thier website which was unfortunate and to be frank a little frustrating since they had in the past.
A beautiful day and great company so this was not a big deal this time, but to be very clear, with them not allowing pets they have lost a key reason for us to frequent the Wild Horse as their food is good not great and if we have to do take out... there are several very good competitors nearby.
The good not great was parroted by several in our group of 8. The fried mushrooms, the hot wings, the bang bang shrimp, the french fries, the wraps, all were...
Read moreWe waited about 40 minutes to be seated because it was half price wing night. People that arrived after us were seated before us. They have a very nice outdoor seating area, but we were seated inside. We could see an empty table outside that would seat our party of 5, but apparently it wasn't in our server's designated area. So instead of seeing the gorgeous sunset and listening to live music, we were inside where the music is loud and the echoing ambient noise made it difficult to hear each other. I don't know why, but the finish used on the tables inside is a bit tacky. They look great, but they feel awful. There are several TVs around the place and several sports seemed to be represented. The owner did ask if we had a preference for what was projected onto the very large screen.
I do like the wings and the variety of flavors offered, but we did get 2 out of 20 that were small broken pieces. Drink prices are fair, I guess. I had a seasonal draft for $6.50 and a Miller Lite for $3.50. A double vodka & cran was $6.50 and I think a white claw was $4.50. I loved our server, but the kitchen was a bit backed up so we waited longer than I would have liked to get our food. Overall it's a nice place, but it shouldn't be so loud during dinner hours and they should be able to allow customers to sit outside...
