I made a special trip all the way from Boston, MA to visit Blue Mermaid Gourmet Restaurant, and I have to say it was absolutely fantastic. The owners, staff, and overall atmosphere were incredibly warm and inviting. The food was incredibly delicious, to the point where I was so eager to dig in that I didn't take many pictures. It wasn't until I finished eating that I realized I should have captured the experience. However, my taste buds and memories will forever remember how amazing everything looked and tasted.

I also ordered a variety of dishes to take home for my family, and while everything was delicious, the mac and cheese was absolutely outstanding. Even after three weeks, I still find myself drooling at the thought of it. I managed to snap a picture of the fish dish, so be sure to check it out and hurry to get your own.

Fabulous -- every single dish was delish. Wonderful young girl at counter let me sample various sauces so I knew if it was too spicy or too salty or which one I'd like to put on top of my rice. Good portions, fair prices, authentic cuisine, except Rasta Pasta could've been spicier. Customers all talked to each other while eating from Hofstra students to elderly. What a wonderful find in a hidden small shopping center in an industrial part of Oak St. past the school. Oxtails fall off the bone good, creamy-cheesy mac 'n cheese, beautiful colorful plantains, black rice & peas (a new item for me that I will certainly add to my plate again), curried goat gravy on top of it made it even more tasty. Jerk chicken a bit too hot for me. Such a delightful experience, I went home smiling and a passerby saw me smiling in my car & I told him why -- Blue Mermaid, a great find!!! Clean as a whistle with plenty to choose from on the diverse menu...
