I made a special trip all the way from Boston, MA to visit Blue Mermaid Gourmet Restaurant, and I have to say it was absolutely fantastic. The owners, staff, and overall atmosphere were incredibly warm and inviting. The food was incredibly delicious, to the point where I was so eager to dig in that I didn't take many pictures. It wasn't until I finished eating that I realized I should have captured the experience. However, my taste buds and memories will forever remember how amazing everything looked and tasted. I also ordered a variety of dishes to take home for my family, and while everything was delicious, the mac and cheese was absolutely outstanding. Even after three weeks, I still find myself drooling at the thought of it. I managed to snap a picture of the fish dish, so be sure to check it out and hurry to get your own. I highly recommend anyone in the area, whether you're visiting or simply looking for a great meal, to head over to Blue Mermaid Gourmet Restaurant 327 Oak Street, Uniondale, NY 11553. You won't regret it. The quality of food and service I received made the drive well worth it. I'm already planning my next visit in the spring!

Disappointing Experience for the Price I visited Blue Mermaid Restaurant in Uniondale today, excited to try their jerk chicken and a combo with jerk chicken and oxtail. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to my expectations. First off, I felt the food was overpriced for what was served—$44 for two meals that I ultimately couldn’t even finish. The jerk chicken was extremely dry, lacking the tenderness and flavor you’d expect. The oxtail had an odd taste that was almost off-putting, and both dishes were overall bland and tasteless. It’s disappointing to say, but I ended up throwing most of the food away. For the price I paid, I expected much better quality. I’m giving 2 stars because the staff was polite and the service was quick, but sadly, I can’t recommend the food based on this visit.

Okay Caribbean people who live in Nassau County looking for authentic Haitian and Jamaican food this is the spot. I had the pleasure of meeting the chef/ owner of Blue Mermaid when I arrived. I have a shellfish allergy so I always have to ask if they're shellfish is fried or cooked separately because alot of restaurants don't. I was super excited when the chef explained it's cooked separately. Let’s get to the food okay can I say top tier. We ordered a large Fritay everything was amazing. You get tasso, griot, fried snapper, acra, marinad, rice and so much more. We also tried their chicken soup which delicious. We tried their patties as well. The restaurant is bright & clean. The chef was so friendly this will definitely be a go to spot. Try them out I promise you you won't be disappointed.

What a gem in the area! I tried a portion of as many different dishes as I could, and everything was superb! Chicken, ox tail, goat, and all the sides were all cooked and seasoned perfectly. The Mac n cheese reminded me of my favorite homemade MandC. I grew up eating delicious authentic Jamaican food, and I can honestly say that this place is legit. Let’s not forgot about the space and the service. Super clean and tidy. One of the most well-maintained local eateries I’ve been seen. The service was outstanding. I had the fortunate opportunity to meet the owner/chef and her daughter and grandson. They were incredibly friendly… and generous (offered me samples)! Looking forward to going back later this week!

The food was not fresh. The griot was dry and salty, the mac and cheese was okay but not Haitian. The saus pwa was terrible watery and tasteless. The white rice was flavorless and it’s sad cause it’s a great location the legume is meatless but was sweet I think they mashed carrots in it. I don’t believe a Haitian is cooking the food. The service was okay but the servers were so dull it’s like they didn’t want to be there. The food looks like it sits out all day. And the way they packed my food was terrible I order legume and rice and a side of Mac and cheese they dumped it all in one plate. The meat (griot) was apart but was not good. I pray they find another chef this place needs improvement really bad

This is not your typical Haitian restaurant. This is a family affair with some Jamaican flair. You’ll find delicious dishes made with fresh and authentic ingredients and love. You’ll find Haitian and Jamaican patties, drinks, and desserts. You’ll also be able to step your cooking game up with organic and flavorful marinades, spices and hot sauces. Lest I forget about the timeless, memorable, and professional catering services. What sets them apart from other Haitian restaurants is the talented and French culinary trained chef with a long career in the hotel dining industry. They deliver unmatched and professional catering that is sure to wow your audience or guests. You certainly won’t be disappointed.
