Restaurant Review of J.A. Heneghan's Tavern & Restaurant in Lido Beach, Nassau County on Long Island, NY!!
Decided to checkout this local vibe that I heard served straight from their farm to the table!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 Rating from me!
I did make reservations for 4, two days prior to this evening’s dining experience. Some out of town friends came in from NC and I thought this place would remind them of their Long Island roots.
For appetizer, we shared the Crispy Fried Calamari. The rings were fresh, the batter coating crispy, served hot with a tasty marinara sauce on the side. No there was absolutely no fishy smell! The calamari was super tender and not rubbery like I’ve had in other places.
Entrees: We had quite a variety. The french onion soup which was absolutely divine, the grass feed beef burger (the Red Devon Burger) and boy this was at least an inch thick, juicy, tasty, perfectly cooked med rare, and very hard to finish. Also the scrumptious rigatoni bolognese!!! Oh by the past was cooked perfectly aldenté, the sauce creamy, had lots of meat in that bolognese sauce and ridiculously mouth wateringly good! You definitely need to come with an appetite that’s for sure!
As for desert, we had none. Sadly we were beyond stuffed and opted to skip it entirely. That will have to wait for my next visit!
Now I cannot forget about my cocktail! I had the Strawberry Fields cocktail … Good lord it was a worthy gift to my tastebuds ! This baby was made with One with Life Tequila, Wahaka Mezcal, Cointreau, Lime Juice, Strawberry Puree, & Agave. It was strong but very smooth. I’d recommend just having 1… I didn’t dare tempt my awesome balance with another one even though it was very tasty!
That said, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the parking situation… in hindsight, I’d recommend you carpool if going with friends or better yet, split an Uber. It’s near impossible to find parking in this lovely beachy neighborhood. Also, the price point is a tad bit on the pricier side but the food, the cocktails, the ambiance and the impeccable, friendly & professional service makes up for it all I promise you! It’s a great place to take a date, a spouse, good friends or simply a finer...
Read moreWent there for the first time with my girlfriends. It was a Friday night, so I made reservations. Our table was waiting for us so we were seated right away. The decor is Tavern Pub with dark wood and a stone fireplace that is the focal point...Absolutely Beautiful! Even the bathrooms should be featured in a magazine! The front part is the bar with table and booths and the back half is the more formal dining area separated by french doors. Very tastefully done. The staff was great on every level. From the hostess who sat us, to our server and busboy, everyone was polite, professional and courteous and the service was excellent. The food...Outstanding! We shared the mac-n-cheese with truffle oil and the crab and artichoke dip with garlic crostini bread for appetizers. This cannot be explained...it must be experienced! For the main, I had the Cowboy Ribeye cooked to perfection and sliced to make a really nice plate presentation. My girls had the Bacon Wrapped Filet Mignon and the Fish Platter. All of us really enjoyed our selections. As for the cocktails...the Bartender is on point with all of his house specials although we agreed that the cocktail with the homemade coconut milk was the best one, with the blueberry lemonade cocktail being a close second. This is a great place in Point Lookout. You are comfortable in a casual atmosphere that offers a high end environment, service, and menu but at reasonable prices which, for me makes it a double bonus...A Great Place! Make sure you...
Read moreI’ve been coming to this restaurant for many years, always had nice bartenders and good service. Today, Friday August 4, 2023, I came into the restaurant with my husband and we sat at the bar, the bar was also completely empty. The Bartender, Kim seemed very annoyed when we sat down and gave us an attitude from beginning to end, terrible experience with her. First the Bloody Marys were not served the way they’ve always been, they were in small glasses and not mixed properly. She would not make any eye contact with us. We proceeded to order food and she got the order wrong. First thing never came out and food was not good at all this time, dried out chicken sandwich and I ordered the cauliflower wrap which was full of cabbage and no cauliflower. She never apologized or asked us how we were doing and didn’t even care to find out how the food was. Finally, I told her we were very unhappy with the service and she threw the bill at us to basically tell us to leave. I asked her what her name was and if she was new there because I’ve never had this bad experience at this particular place before, I always had a good experience but this will be the last time will be coming there due to your new bartender Kim. I suggest not being a bartender if you get aggravated by people...
