Tucked inside an unassuming shopping strip just a block from Nassau University Medical Center, Kesar Foods is a hidden gem that transcends expectations with its generous hospitality, garden-like décor, and a menu that dances across the subcontinent. This South Asian kitchen artfully blends regional Indian specialties, from tandoori sizzlers to street food classics and rich breads, offering a culinary journey few places in Nassau County attempt with such breadth and grace.
The showstopper at lunch was the Tandoori Jumbo Shrimp—enormous, flame-kissed prawns with a whisper of char and a radiant glow of saffron and masala. Juicy, fresh, and masterfully spiced, each bite was a revelation in texture and balance.
On the side, the Mixed Vegetable Pakora arrived as a festival of color and crunch. Generously portioned (enough for four), these fritters were golden, airy, and studded with spinach, onion, and root vegetables. Paired with tangy tamarind and zesty mint chutneys, the contrast of warmth and brightness was irresistible.
Bread lovers, rejoice: their Paneer Paratha—both the house-style and traditional—is a must. Each triangle unfolds layers of flavor, the crisp edges giving way to soft pockets of mildly spiced cheese. It’s comfort food elevated to an art form.
To sip, the Mango Lassi is perfection: chilled, velvety, subtly spiced, and sweetened just right, it may be one of the best renditions on Long Island.
The dining room feels like a serene indoor garden—canopies of flowers and vines cascade from the ceiling, with golden chairs and glass-topped tables beneath. A display case beckons with treats and house-made desserts, while framed wall art pays homage to India’s culinary diversity.
Where many South Asian eateries in the region lean heavily on the familiar flavors of Hicksville, Kesar Foods dares to represent India’s full culinary spectrum. Warm service, vibrant ambiance, and extraordinarily fresh dishes make it a rare and welcome addition to East Meadow’s food landscape.

Read moreI went here for lunch with my brother and sister-in-law during the weekend. This was our first time coming here, but the workers there were very welcoming and friendly. We ordered Chicken Momos for an appetizer; Butter Chicken, Goat curry, and Goat Karahi as the main dishes; and Ras Malai for desert. The main dishes were also served with white basmati rice and garlic naan. Each dish was simply delicious and VERY fulfilling. We enjoyed every main dish, and we couldn't pick out a favorite. The food came out quite fast too, but perhaps it was because it was the weekend, and we were the only ones dining inside. Still, I highly recommend this place for amazing food South...
