This library is amazing, very clean and sanitary. The staff are very kind , softspoken, and will do anything and everything to help you find whatever ur looking for.
They have fun activities such as chess club , reiki class and movie nights.
But sadly there are a few problems about the library I hope are resolved quickly because I love coming here.
This library constantly refuses to accept donating books , Idk why. I have donated old video games , movies BUT every time I bring my collection of books that I read and don't want anymore....the librarians refuse to accept them. The books are either thrown away or just left there completely ignored.
The books I donate are in good condition and exciting , only a few years old.
I think it's very unfair that I can only take out 1 video game , but movies , books and cds I can take a few....video games only 1 can be taken out and no more until that one is returned. They should at least allow 2 video games per person.
Also the when you return that 1 video game , the library has a silly policy of not allowing people to renew the video game that they return on time(I'm not talking about late returns).
Library needs more new variety of video games , more quantity and perhaps get 2 or 3 copies so people can take out at least 2 video games.
They have a vending machine in one of the rooms towards the back , but only employees can use it? Why not us patrons?
And finally , The library has no karaoke night in there list of programs....maybe even have a video game program in which one of the rooms downstairs is used for video game playing.
They offer driving safety classes , but their prices are ridiculously expensive.
I want to learn to drive for my road test , only need 2 classes.....if their other programs are free why not give driving lesson...
Read moreLuna and I recently had the pleasure of visiting the East Meadow Public library, and their children's section was incredible! As a dad, I am looking for places that provide a nurturing environment for my daughter's imagination to flourish. This library surpassed all my expectations. First, I was immediately captivated by the giant unicorn that greeted as we entered the children's section. Well, tbh my daughter was the captivated one. I also dug the wind machine where toy soldiers floating through the air gave my daughter huge gasps of awe and laughter. Second, I am.always grateful to librarians who greet us warmly. Sometimes, we get an up and down scanning. Other times, we are dismissed. Not sure which one is worse, but the librarian on shift was very welcoming. Books--- neatly organized and filled with a diverse range of age approproate books. A huge selection that covered a broad spectrum of genres. The toys-- all neatly organzied and tons of puzzles which Luna loved. Bathroom-- love a kid's section with its own bathroom. It was clean and spacious. Extras--- they have a green screen and a kids garden which is right outside the kids section. I could go on and on, but my favorite experience at the East Meadow Library was a sweet young 4th grader named Mia. This is only the second library other than Baldwin Library where another "older" child played with Luna. Mia not only played and befriended Luna, but she read to her. Thank you for that Mia and Mia's mom. Kudos to East Meadow Public library for setting the bar high and being a shining example of what a remarkable children's...
Read moreWell, this morning I walked into The East Meadow Public Library for help in finding a rare gem. As I am a patron, normally I have the most pleasant experiences and generally have known most of the librarians and some at the circulation desk. However, today I was met with the most RUDE and discriminatory librarian - Maryellen Fasso - who wouldn't help me from the moment I requested a book. I asked for Grimm's Fairy Tales and she rudely said that they were all in Children's section and that's where I should go. Well, I politely asked for the version that adults might read and she got nasty. Her tone and shortness were the most unbecoming of any librarian I've ever seen. I wonder if she even knows how to do her job, because then, without looking at the computer, she walks me over to the section where it was 398....I have never dealt with her before, but I suggest you stay away from her if you want a pleasant experience. Otherwise, there is a WONDERFUL librarian, I believe her name is Deborah and she is the most patient, kind, AND HELPFUL librarian I've ever met and had the pleasure of working with. She is more than resourceful and will find almost anything you need. She is THE BEST. I only left one star for the bad (Maryellen F.), but if I could leave five stars it would only be...
