What an absolute abomination of an establishment. A table that came in after us (one of only 3 other tables in sight that was seated) managed to finish their meals before I did. Only then, about 30 minutes after ordering, was I finally brought my drink, and informed that my appetizer would be out in a minute, and then my food in 10 more minute because "the kitchen messed up." Fast forward 10 minutes and I have neither. I inform the manager that I would like to simply cancel my order. Rather than apologizing, I get told next time to come see him. I must have missed the part where I became a W-2 employee at Colony Diner and need to chase the manager around to report issues. Again, I informed him that I simply want my order canceled. Finally, as I am still discussing with the manager, my food comes out. Being that I have now waited an hour for dinner and simply want to eat, I tell them just to pack it up to go. What do I get for my troubles? Not a single dollar off the bill, but surely enough a gift card for just little enough for me to have to dip into my own pockets whenever I would use it. Finally, as if this isn't bad enough, the burger was borderline cooked to ashes when ordered medium (I guess that is what took so long) and the chicken sandwich was not even close to what we ordered (and whatever it actually would should be taken off the menu immediately). Service is terrible. Management is even worse. Food is, somehow, even worse than management. I would rather eat Alpo than go back to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent here for a late night girl chat because of it's proximity to both of us. When we entered, nothing was said about closing. We were seated and given the menus. The server returned telling us we needed to order right away because the kitchen was closing in 15 mins. We quickly checked the menu and ordered Calamari and Potato Skins. While we were talking, a bus boy interrupted our conversation with the insistence that he knew my girlfriend. Once it was figured out that they worked at the same place many years ago, he continued to infringe with no sign of stopping until I said something. The food arrived; the Calamari was ok. Can't say the same for the Potato Skins, they looked burnt with no flavor. We each tried one and decided it was one too many. It was not wrapped up to go.
The first thing that should've occurred was to let us know they were closing shortly instead of seating us. Second for someone to infringe and insist on disrupting a private conversation is rude and disrespectful. It's a shame that they have plummeted so far down when I enjoyed an excellent breakfast a number of years ago. Sadly, I don't plan on returning eventhough it's in my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIncredibly disappointed and feeling quite ripped off. We waited 45 mins for our food which we were told twenty minutes prior that āit would be out in a minuteā. As we told the manager we were leaving, the waiter came out with the food which we asked for them to wrap up, so we could take it to go. One sandwich, one burger and one half order of potato skins came to $47. The manager who blamed us for not coming to him sooner (instead of apologizing to us) did not take a cent off the bill. Come home to find that the order was wrong. Shocking. My bbq chicken sandwich was made as a stacked club sandwich and instead of bbq sauce, the chicken was covered in rosemary. āRosemary chickenā on a sandwich with bacon, ham and cheddar cheese on Texas toast is so far from an appropriate combination. The potato skins were charred on the outside and raw on the inside. Will absolutely not be going back to this diner. Good thing Long Island is riddled with them. If youāre reading this, drive two more blocks to the next diner. Oh yes....the ham had splotches of hot pink all over it as well. Iām pretty sure thatās...
