Read moreIf you're looking for a refreshing and tropical treat on Long Island, look no further than The Purple Flamingo in Bellmore. This Acai bowl/ Smoothie/ Raw Juice shop is a little oasis of deliciousness, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and a menu that will make you feel like your lounging on a beach in Hawaii (now I've never been to Hawaii but I can promise that it'll definitely make you feel like you're somewhere tropical and exotic, and that's pretty darn close).
Let's start with the star of the show: the Acai bowls. These are not your average bowls of mushy berries and granola. Oh no. The Purple Flamingo takes acai to a whole new level with a variety of fresh fruit, coconut, chia seeds, agave and much more (all included btw). And the presentation? Let's just say you'll feel like you're eating a work of art.
But don't sleep on their smoothies and juice either. The "Love Birds" smoothie is a sweet blend of strawberries and banana, while the "Mango Breeze" is a tropical delightful mix of mango, peach and banana that will cool you off on even the hottest of days.
If you're in the mood for a juice, try one of my faves the "Up Beet", which is a blend of beets, carrot, apple, cucumber, and ginger. It's sweet, earthy, and packs a punch of nutrition.
The atmosphere at The Purple Flamingo is just as impressive as their menu. The walls are adourned with lush greenery, vibrant decor and a Purple Flamingo mural that will transport you straight to the beach.
So if you're in the mood for something delicious and unique, head to The Purple Flamingo. Just be warned: you might never...
Read moreMy first time ever trying this spot was very disappointing. The lack of professionalism was astonishing. The owner nor the girl behind the counter working greeted me or my boyfriend when we arrived. The girl behind the counter made it seem as though she was being bothered with more customers. The owner was sitting in the front area with her son who seemed about 3 years old. She eventually went behind the counter to help her worker prepare our bowls however she left her son unattended and essentially saw no issue with that despite him throwing her inventory all over the floor and stepping onto me and my boyfriendâs feet etc. She would laugh and reply âHe is not shy at allâ as though it was comicalâŚ.. When our bowls were finished, they were packed so high the lids wouldnât fit. The owner suggested we take a paper plate with us instead of fixing the bowls we asked for lids on - specifically for convenience.. I would also like to add that as a customer I did not appreciate the owner wearing a revealing spaghetti strap tank top while preparing my food- from a professional stand point. My second trip to this place was another disaster. Both me and my sisters bowls were rushed and missing more than 3 toppings each. Even the customer ahead of us complained that her order was wrong. for a $20 bowl youâd expect more.. Needles to say I will not...
