Ralph's Italian Ices & Ice Cream — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

I had such an amazing experience at Ralph’s Ice Cream, and it’s all thanks to Mia! From the moment I got to there she greeted me with the warmest smile and made me feel like a valued customer right away. Even though there was a bit of a line she stayed calm, upbeat, and professional the entire time. She handled each order with care and patience, making sure everyone got exactly what they wanted without ever seeming rushed or overwhelmed.When it was my turn, I had a few specific requests for my order and Mia didn’t hesitate or get annoyed like some people might. Instead she listened carefully, gave great suggestions, and made sure everything came out perfect. The way she took the time to double-check and make my treat exactly the way I like it showed how much pride she takes in her job. On top of that, she kept such a positive vibe that it made the whole experience even better something you don’t always get at places that are super busy. Honestly, workers like Mia are rare. She goes above and beyond just taking orders she creates a whole experience that makes customers want to come back. She’s respectful, hardworking, and truly cares about doing her job well. I hope Ralph’s management sees how lucky they are to have someone like her on their team. Mia absolutely deserves recognition and in my opinion a raise for the excellent service she provides! I truly wanted to give this location a 5-star rating, and under normal circumstances, it would have been. However, my experience on Saturday around 7:00 PM led me to give a lower rating, and I feel it's important to share my concerns.

This was my first time visiting Ralph’s at this time of day, and unfortunately, the interaction was far from pleasant. A young woman with dark brown or black hair gave me a particularly negative experience.

I ordered two kids' cones and a pup cup, a combination I’ve ordered many times before, and the total usually comes out to around $9.00. My husband and I always leave a tip of $2 to $3, depending on the number of staff present. However, this time, the total came to $11.80. When I politely asked why the price was higher than usual, the employee became visibly upset and raised her voice. The cones weren’t even done properly! They were small for the price she charged us and the sprinkles fell off them!

While we chose to pay and walk away, this interaction left a sour note on what should have been a simple visit. If the employee is dissatisfied with her job, perhaps a different role might be a better fit.

Same Italian ices as anywhere else overpriced and plus this Ralph's Italian ice on Newbridge Road doesn't accept credit cards but the other Ralph's Italian ices to accept credit cards. So I had a teenage boy give me an attitude at the window telling me with a smart remark that they don't accept credit cards. How am I supposed to know that they don't accept credit cards would you like me to look to the left and a tiny little label that they hand wrote they don't accept credit cards. Definitely not worth the trip. The independent owner of this store should take a really good look at who he hires representing his storm...
