Ting Ho II — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

I’ve lived in this area for about 10 years and have frequently ordered from this restaurant—it’s always been my go-to for Chinese takeout. However, my recent experience has completely changed how I feel about this place.

Two days ago, I walked in and ordered General Tso’s chicken with white rice and a side of fried plantains. When I got home and began eating, I discovered a bug in my food. I immediately stopped eating and called the restaurant. I was told to bring the food back for a refund.

I brought the food with me to work the next day and stopped by the restaurant. I paid $24 for my order, but the woman at the front only gave me $14 back and told me I could leave.

What followed was beyond unacceptable—I was met with blatant disrespect and hostility. The woman began yelling at me at the top of her lungs, and two men came to the front and also started screaming at me. I was completely shocked and disturbed by how unprofessional and aggressive their response was.

After being a loyal customer for years, I am truly at a loss for words. This experience was not only disgusting due to the bug, but also traumatizing because of how I was treated when I calmly tried to address the situation. No one should ever be treated this way—especially not after something as serious as finding a bug...

Visited 9/25/24, 10/24/24, 3/12/25, experience for last day: Unfortunately, the food here is not amazing. The sesame chicken sauce tastes chalky and very dry. The fried rice is okay, and the egg rolls are decent. The workers are friendly and the prices are pretty good, but the food quality is relatively poor. The customer service is terrible! The only reason this gets 1 star is because that’s the lowest and I couldn’t put negative 5 stars. Whoever picks up the phone should have patience and be able to deal with people. That’s they’re one job. I never got my food because the lady kept hanging up on me.
