Start off with positives. Beautiful decor! Everyone greets you when arriving and leaving. Attentive wait staff. Noah was so sweet when taking our drink order. Great little complimentary tasting dishes prior to the meal that were very nice. Very good portions. Negatives. My friend's dish Jjampong (noodle soup with seafood) was inedible (had to spit out on plate). Mussels and calamari was very undercooked as was the vegetables and noodles but not as bad as the mussels and calamari. When we told our waitress she basically was indifferent and a bit contemptuous saying "look at it " as she pointed to the dish and said "its cooked enough" then left. Then another young man asked if everything was "ok" because it was obvious that it was not. Because our friend did not touch her meal after 3 -4 bites. He asked if he could wrap it and she said no and that she did not care for it. He took the basically an untouched meal away. But she was still charged for the meal. And I was disappointed that the chef was not notified . The Japche noodles were good but needed more besides the veggies so I asked for tofu and our waitress once again was indifferent and she said no. I find this unbelievable because one of our dishes came with tofu (mix mushroom and tofu stew). We also ordered bibimbap without the egg. And I asked if we could have the purple rice instead of the white and no egg instead substitute tofu. Our waitress again said no to the additional tofu and the dish had the white rice instead of the purple rice. Pot stickers were very greasy. Deep fried is only option. We ordered 2 potstickers one veggie and one mushroom. We were initially told both were veggie when placed on table. Then we were told one was mushroom and one was veggie as we ordered. Then found out after eating one that was not the case. So they took one veggie back and brought out the mushroom. When they brought out the mushroom potsticker it was weird as you couldn't tell the difference between the 2 (veggie vs mushroom). Then we were told the mushroom had veggie in it even though it was just listed as mushroom pot stickers on the menu. Also, very loud inside and was difficult to hold conversation. Definitely will not...
Read moreThis food was fantastic and has ruined me for getting Korean anywhere else. The kimchi is house made and I have never had anything like it, it was absolutely amazing, the owner said they make it in house daily for the next day. Because it is so ‘young’ it has a very sweet flavor (to me) and not a lot of fermentation bite. I have never had that before and it was so good I had to buy a container to take home. There were only 2 of us, we ordered the bulgogi, spicy squid, and chilled traditional kudzu noodles. We wanted to order so much more…but there were only 2 of us. Everything was sooooo good!! I think the chilled kudzu noodles were actually my favorite, never had them before and they were so refreshing and chewy, the broth and spicy sauce (we got spicy on the side) were super tasty. Spicy squid was fresh and not overcooked, and in that addictive spicy sauce. Bulgogi was sweet and savory, best Ive had anywhere. Service was a little slow, looks like they may be getting some kinks out since they’re newly opened. But everyone was very kind and I really appreciated the call button on the table. The food was worth the wait for sure! And the owner was very nice and came to our table several times to see how we were doing. I didn’t get the sushi but I saw someone else there I know, and when I went to say Hi all the sushi he had ordered looked really good! That’s high on my list to try next time. This was a long review…which I find usually means the reviewer is a nut-job. Hopefully this doesn’t read that way....
Read moreThis is not a bad review about the food served. Restaurant looks nice inside. I went to pick up take-out food, but before doing so, I called to make sure the dish I was ordering, a tofu mushroom soup, was vegan. I was told that it was.
So I picked it up and brought it home. Had a couple of tastes, when my wife pulled out a big spoon of egg. That was the end of my dinner.
I don't want to leave a really bad review since this is a new restaurant and they deserve a chance, and judging from other reviews the food is good. So I'll remove this review in a little while. But I thought that I should mention my experience since I got food that I couldn't eat and ate food that I would not normally touch. They did apologize and immediately offer me a refund, which was nice. But I didn't accept it. I gave the food to someone who would eat it.
For others who don't eat meat, dairy, eggs, etc., the menu doesn't have many vegan options listed. Going forward, if we order again, I'll find out whether they would substitute any of the meats with tofu or veggies. That would make a difference, but for the moment there's not much to chose from on the menu that doesn't have meat.
The side of kimchi...
