Let me first say that it is an honor to write this review for the extraordinary staff at Mamajuana Cafe Huntington!! I hosted an engagement dinner for my dear friend who recently became engaged. We were originally booked at another restaurant in Huntington for this occasion, but 2 nights prior to the reservation, I ate at Mamajuana Cafe for a regular night out with a friend. I was so impressed with my overall experience this first night, that I decided to cancel the original reservation and book the engagement celebration at Mamajuana Cafe instead! Boy oh boy, was this the best move!! First of all the food is absolutely delicious and the margaritas are perfectly made and compliment every bite of flavor!! The Paella is perfection and they don't skimp on the seafood or the chorizo. The rice was fluffy and every bite is a party in your mouth. The Pulpo is to die for and the empanadas were amazing. I'm not sure what sauce they drizzle on the plate with the empanadas, but it was so good, we asked for a side serving to enjoy with the rest of our empanadas. The sauce is addicting so we continued to enjoy it on everything and anything that we dipped into it! Yes, the food is reason enough to experience this restaurant, but even more extraordinary is the hard working, kind, professional staff, who do backflips to make sure you are happy. It is obvious that they are so grateful for every patron who walks in the door and they treat you like family. Here are some examples of how this special staff went above and beyond to make sure our engagement celebration was PERFECT in every way... First, I dropped off balloons and table decorations and they were more than happy to set the table with all the decorations prior to our arrival. They also allowed me to bring the engagement cake from an outside bakery at no charge. They used my special sparkler candles on the cake and when they brought the cake out they had a special light up sign that said, SHE SAID YES!! An amazing touch that was so FANTASTIC and really made the celebration even more spectacular! They also chanted "she said yes" while ringing bells and shaking other adorable instruments. Here is where it gets good... the restaurant closes at 10, but we were in party mode and they NEVER once rushed us or made us feel uncomfortable about leaving until we were ready. They graciously stayed open way past closing time and not only were we not rushed, but they were genuinely happy we were having so much fun! There is no attitude here from anyone and the incredible energy and service with a smile proved consistent WAY past closing hours!!! This was was one of the most refreshing and admirable customer service experiences I ever had in any restaurant- bar none!! The party was a HUGE success and I my friend said it was " THE BEST NIGHT EVER"!! This is the place to celebrate any occasion, no matter how big or small, or just go out for a great week night meal, for no reason at all, other than to experience the amazing food, super fab drinks, exceptional service, super fun ambiance and the genuine staff that will treat you like royalty from the minute you walk in the door! Please do yourself a favor and try this restaurant. You will be so glad you did!! To everyone at Mamajuana Cafe, thank you from the bottom of my heart for making my friend's engagement celebration absolute PERFECTION!!! I would give you 100 stars if this review allowed!!. You exceeded all expectations and I wish you the best of luck. To my fellow neighbors, please support this restaurant any chance you get. They really work hard to earn your business and deserve all their hard work to pay off!! Book a reservation, kick back, enjoy a margarita and delicious food and let them take the best care of you like only they can!!...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe had dinner here last night for my daughters 13th bday. The atmosphere is nice as well as the servers. I canāt say enough good things about them, they are very attentive and gave good recommendations. As for the food, overall it was good however, we ordered an appetizer sampler which came with chicken and as u can see from the images they served it undercooked. I showed the waitress and she showed it to her manager who said it was cooked and was still pink because itās dark meat. Iām not a professional chef but I do know what raw chicken looks like. The manager would not replace or comp a portion of the appetizer. Iām not asking for a full comp on the appetizer but at least take off a portion from the bill that we could not safely consume. My 9 year old ordered the same chicken with fries from the kids menu and it also came undercooked even though I asked for them to make it well done since the appetizer was undercooked. I pointed it out to the waitress again who showed her manager again and he said he would comp her meal which was $10. Ok so he comped my daughters meal which she couldnāt eat, that was the right thing to do but couldnāt comp the appetizer or even admit that it was not thoroughly cooked? I think thatās what bothered me the most, they couldnāt admit it was undercooked and just sent the undercooked chicken right back to us. For that, I would not return here. Itās too pricey to order food you canāt consume. Again, the only issue was the chicken. The other dishes we tried were fully cooked and was good.
Update: Changed my review to a star due to the manager's response on my honest review. I have images to reflect the raw meat served to my family and anyone that has cooked chicken will tell you that translucent meat is RAW! Doesn't take a genius to see that. Either way, i will not be returning and i'm honestly disappointed in the manager's response. I gave credit to the other dishes but gave the negative review based on how the business handled the situation. The customer should never be convinced to eat something they are not comfortable...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI really hate to write a negative review, but after visiting 3x my experience only becomes progressively worse. My true rating is 2 stars but Im hoping this review can be taken as feedback, and my intention is not to harm their overall score .
First Visit: My husband and I went on a Saturday around 5pm, we were one of 3 tables and it took 50 minutes for 2 entrees To come out, we had no utensils and had to ask twice for them.
Second Visit: I went with my mom on a weekday, they had opened only about an hour before and we were the only table- it took 40 minutes for our food to come out :(
Third visit: tonight my husband and myself went with my sister , brother in law and my daughter. We were ok waiting since we knew to expect it but 1) there are no changing tables for children in the family bathroom 2) after 30 minutes we asked about our appetizer (guacamole) our waiter who hadnāt checked on us since he took our order literally asked me āoh you donāt have it yet?ā He went to check and comes back to tell us us it was served to the wrong table. The manager quickly brought it over and didnāt charge us - which we appreciated. However when our entrees came out we had (2) orders of sushi and we waited 5 mins after being served waiting for chopsticks and soy sauce which I requested from the manager eventually. Overall the servers are not rude but also could use some customer service training as most barely smile and it would be a more pleasant experience to interact with more upbeat servers who are more attentive to guests.
The manager was kind and tried to right some of the mistakes but overall I donāt plan to return to this location. The food takes too long, and most servers seem to be distracted and forget utensils etc and you have to constantly flag them down. Lastly as a new mom Iāve never been to a restaurant with no changing tables and was disappointed. I love the Queens location but super disappointed in the Huntington one, I truly hope they read reviews...
