You ever love a brand new place so much that you're so lucky to have near you that you get deeply offended by negative reviews? That's how I feel. Irondequoit is so lucky to have this place and I deeply want it to succeed.
Everything was amazing, but especially the selection of desserts. I'm lucky to have raised two kids who are not picky at all, so I was able to order a variety of dishes but more importantly, multiple desserts to share. Coconut rice with mango, coconut creme brulee with mango, Vietnamese tiramisu, and the pandan chiffon cake with young coconut filling. No notes, all great.
The only things I wish were different: the papaya salad even at a 1 was too spicy for my kids to enjoy (but it was still delicious to me) and that the laab came with crunchy veggies on the side. I usually order the things I don't make at home (I've been making Thai curry and noodle dishes since college since I couldn't afford to eat out) and the fried squid, the laab, the pork belly were all excellent.
My younger kid wanted the side order of "fried egg" and he ate it with the pork belly, I highly recommend the breakfast vibes, perfectly runny yolk.
I wish I had grabbed more photos of the food, but the Thai tea was extremely well balanced. Not too sweet, no sediment, no bitter...
Read moreI ordered from this place yesterday because my family and I were so hungry. We just got into city from a different town. First of all, the person I ordered from on the phone had no idea what's on the menu. When asked if they had the "pho beef special" (because it was specified on their menu they had it), the person on the phone had no idea. I could hear the person going back and fourth with another employee as I asked for several request. Anyways the order was placed. It was picked up, and everything was still pretty hot. But, the pho, was definitely not authentic, it lacked depth and flavor. Now, I'm a Vietnamese person myself and I can definitely tell you not to order the pho. It was so bland, even after dressing it up with hoison sauce and the garnishes. As for the Kapoon, it was also very bland, it was probably the worst Kapoon I ever had. I understand this is a Thai restaurant and of course they aren't going to make the best pho or Kapoon, but at least make some effort to make it taste flavorful. Also, the Thai fried rice lacked flavor and there wasn't even any basil leaves in it to give it it's signature taste. I'm never going to order from here ever again and make sure none of my friends ever try it, It...
Read moreFirst time at Wild Elephant Thai! Consider us instant fans! From the moment we were greeted by Sarin, our incredibly personable and kind server, we knew we were in for a treat. His excellent service truly enhanced our dining experience. Now, let's get down to the delicious details. The Crab Rangoon? Seriously addictive – perfectly crispy and bursting with flavor. For our main courses, we decided on the Pork Belly and the Lao Sausage, and both were outstanding. The pork belly was cooked to a melt-in-your-mouth perfection, while the Lao sausage was incredibly flavorful, leaving us wanting more. And the portions? Prepare to be impressed – they are incredibly generous! We also have to give a shout-out to the amazing sticky rice, the ideal complement to such tasty dishes. Watch out for that mango salad temperature! You’re going to want to keep it low. What truly impressed us was not only the quality but also the value. The prices at Wild Elephant are very, very reasonable for the amount and deliciousness you receive. We left feeling completely satisfied and already eager to return. If you're looking for fantastic Thai food with great service and generous portions, look no further than...
