I had an issue with an order I picked up today & Jackie was such a rude & condescending jerk on the phone. I drove 20 minutes to get a hero here because their food is usually spot on & I asked for VERY well done bacon which it wasn’t even close. Also paid $2.50 for extra cheese that was not extra by any means but I was not about to drive back that distance. I was very sweet when asking for a manager, I know it is really the cooks fault, & Jackie barely let me get a word out. I was not looking for money back just simply wanted to inform her about the poor service & she offered it to me but the attitude & speaking over me was appalling. Not professional at all especially for an owner. Maybe just tell your lazy cooks to keep the bacon in for another 2 minutes, instead of making excuses such as “maybe it was busy back there”. I have worked in the food industry long enough to know that is not acceptable. Nor should a manager - let alone an owner - make an excuse for an incorrect order. I was so sweet about it too.    Read moreHometown Heroes is the spot to go for heroes. Forget subway or whatever place sells heroes and forget they exist. Every sandwich I've had from Hometown (which is almost all of them) was great. They're all generously portioned with quality ingredients. And that bread... I'm not sure if it's made in-house or sourced elsewhere, but they use the best bread I've ever had from a sandwich shop. I don't think I've ever had any of their sides except the good mozzarella sticks which were good, but I can't comment on the rest of them or their salads. Service is good, always greeted upon entering and leaving, the staff is always nice to deal with. The location is pretty good being fairly central to the greater West Islip area. Parking is kinda rough, especially on the side of the building.. I drive a low car and can't even get into the lot because you're basically driving...
Read moreWent here on my break between trains. Walked there doors open at 10am. Ordered immediately, ordered a very simple egg sandwich knowing I had to be back by 10:20. I had to walk out at 10:17 with no sandwich because it still never came out and I had to be back to work. So I basically paid 8.67 for an iced tea!! The girl behind the register and her two coworkers were talking about me because I asked if it would be done soon because I had to make my train. "Tell him the grill needs to heat up jeez" well fyi I worked in a deli for some years and when those doors opened we were ready to rock. You prep everything before you turn on those lights and open those doors. The railroad eats there frequently its a shame to have such a terrible first experience! ...
