This is a review for Smokehouse Noods. They don't have a separate business listing on Google. I called in my order the other night and the woman who took my order was incredibly rude. She answered the phone with "What do do want?" in a very annoyed tone. I placed my order and ended with asking for the pork buns and her response was "yeah, we don't have those". I asked for the scallion pancakes instead and she said "why is everyone ordering those tonight?" She confirmed everything on the order and started to end the call, but I stopped her and asked how long until the order was ready. She said very angrily "I don't know, there are other orders ahead of you. Come here and wait and then you'll know when it's ready." I said that the reason for ordering ahead was so I didn't have to wait there and she said "let's call it 20 minutes then." I got there 20 minutes later and still had to wait another 15 for my food. Now, the food. The chicken dumplings were outstanding, but the scallion pancakes looked like half raw omelets that were so greasy they were hard to pick up with chopsticks, forks, and hands. Both orders of pho (beef and chicken) weren't bad, but the broth was weirdly sweet and it seemed like the predominant spice was cinnamon, which was really weird. The noodles they served with it were very close to glass noodles and were exponentially thinner that the noodles in any pho I have gotten before. Also, I live about 5 minutes from the restaurant and by the time I got home the pho was lukewarm at best. All in all, not worth $54 for six dumplings, 2 terrible scallion pancakes, and 2 small orders of mediocre pho. In the regular season they may have the best BBQ around, but their noodle shop is a...
Read moreMy husband (who enjoys smoking food as a hobby) and I just returned from our visit to Harvest Smokehouse. We were looking forward to supporting a local business, even more so when we learned that they use a Lang smoker and food from their own orchard.
Our order consisted of a pulled pork sandwich, jerk chicken sandwich, small fries, red cabbage kraut, an order of drumstick wings and a side of Peach Chipotle sauce. My husband prefers to taste the flavor profile of the meat itself when eating bbq (as many pit masters do), so I ordered his sandwich plain - no coleslaw, no sauce - just the pork on the bun. The girl at the counter typed in the customizations. Alas, we received our order and see the sandwich fully loaded. My husband returned in hopes of correcting the sandwich as it wasn't terribly busy. The staff begrudgingly remade the sandwich and loudly announced amongst themselves that "If people want customizations, they'll have to go somewhere else." while my husband stood nearby. My husband received his new sandwich and walked away rather embarrassed.
Altogether, we spent $52 (food, tax & tip) and the food that we got was good... but I don't think we'll be back again, given the poor attitude of the staff. They also gave us coleslaw instead of kraut, and there was no side of barbecue sauce. The wings were also severely under-portioned for the price you pay. (Of course, that could just be the going price of wings these days.) Ultimately, unless you want your order exactly as stated on this menu, save yourself the trip and go elsewhere for barbecue.
(Also: If you are a restaurant that does not allow customizations, either alert the order takers or state it somewhere...
Read moreThis used to be one of my favorite places to go. I am wondering if it’s under new ownership as the people who used to run the front end haven’t been there all year. As a result the customer service has declined significantly.
Despite a change in service and some inconsistency and food, I’ve visited this restaurant four times this season, chalking it up to either new staff that would improve or a fluke.
They don’t answer their phones so it’s unlikely you’ll be able to place a to go order. I’ve been there in person as the phone rings and they don’t pick up. It’s not that hard to pick up the phone and say “please hold”, finish up with the existing customer and then return to the phone to take an order.
I have had cuts of meat (brisket) that have been mostly fat.
Last night, two people in my group ordered a burger and fries, both severely overcooked. We couldn’t find any condiments for the fries or burger. When we asked if there was ketchup, they suggested that we go next-door and buy our own ketchup. We weren’t informed before ordering that they were not condiments to go with those items. That probably has to be the final straw for me in terms of going...
