Yiasou cafe is discriminating against people with medical conditions that are unable to wear a face mask... even when they are wearing a perfectly legal face shield.
Went to Yiasou with a perfectly legal face shield covering my entire face and was made to feel very unwelcome. We were seated outdoors, which was great... before even ordering I was informed that I would not be allowed to use the restrooms with the face shield I was wearing. I told her not to worry that I wouldn't use their restrooms. She said some other things and I asked her to just drop it because I already said I wouldn't use the restrooms and I was feeling very discriminated against. She wouldn't let it go so I asked could we have another waitress, never once raising by voice, then while standing just inches from me she started yelling at me, saying she was the waitress and told me to just go someplace else and eat. She went back in the restaurant and yelled loud enough for us to hear that we wanted a different waitress and we were being unreasonable. We left of course, and will never again go here.
So the fact that I may never even have had to use the restroom, so therefore this shouldn't have been an issue unless I got up to go, and the fact that I would be removing the face covering to eat anyway, made this whole scene unnecessary.
So just a caution to anyone who has a medical exemption from wearing a mask, you are not welcome at...
Read moreSullivan County is so lucky to have a place like this to eat and gather. The food here is served in abundant portions and is made with love and care - I always enjoy my dinner, and I always enjoy my leftovers. In my opinion, Yiasou offers tremendous value. Some of my favorites here are the eggplant fries when on special, the soups, the gyro, the mix grill platter, the enormous and delicious salads, the whole branzino when on special (chef’s kiss), and any dessert out of that fantastic dessert case. But what REALLY makes Yiasou distinguish itself from all other local restaurants is the hospitality provided by George and his staff. As a fellow restaurant owner and operator, George set the par for hospitality which my businesses aspire to emulate. There is never a day you arrive at Yiasou and don’t see George - he is ALWAYS leading his team, showing them kindness and respect, clearing plates on the floor, checking in with customers, jumping in the kitchen when needed, and more. The pride and love he brings to his business daily is truly aspirational. I guess what I am trying to say is - George for President 2024. Thank you to the team at Yiasou, you are...
Read moreThis is the best Greek restaurant I have eaten in outside of Queens, NY. The atmosphere is very nice; it is clean and bright. The food was outstanding! Everything came out quickly and cooked to perfection. The fried calamari was light, crispy, and tender. The bronzini was crispy on the outside, and moist and tender on the inside. The best part of our visit was out server, Kylie (sorry if I spelled this wrong!) She was friendly and attentive, and made us feel welcomed. She was professional and knowledgeable about the menu items. The restaurant uses her grandmother's recipe for a pineapple cream pie... it was without exaggeration the best piece of pie I have ever had. It was also nice meeting the owner, George, who friendly and welcoming. Our other server, Jocelyn, was also very professional and pleasant. Overall, this was a...
