CHICK E RIBS BBQ llc Wednesday-Sunday — Restaurant in Town of Liberty

In search of a replacement for Big Kev's, that shuts down for an obnoxiously long vacation each winter, I tried this place I keep driving past but never getting a chance to stop.

First impression: the menu board is cluttered, it took me some time to figure out what the full selection of offerings were. I decided to order the pulled pork sandwich, with a side and drink, a combo listed on the menu board for $11. When I did that, the cashier stopped me and said, hey, we have a lunch special for that! So, I ask for that instead, and get the EXACT SAME THING for the EXACT SAME PRICE. Huh.

The food came really fast, and was handed to be at the counter, loose plates, no tray for carrying to the table. I nearly spilled my baked beans all over the floor trying to carry everything at once.

The food: Bleh. The pork was rather dry, and topped with a generic, supermarket-brand quality sauce. The roll was going stale, where a soft, fluffy roll to absorb the juices of the pork (had there been any) would have been preferable.

The baked beans were advertised as being with burnt ends. Well, it looked and tasted like generic canned baked beans with a few specks of pork thrown in after the fact. How can I tell? There was no smoky pork flavor in the sauce to the beans at all. It did literally taste like ShopRite canned baked beans.

An added inconvenience: as a further disservice to customers, they charge a profitable surcharge on the use of credit cards, discouraging people from making full purchases at their store. But to be fair, the quality doesn't encourage large or repeat purchases anyways.

Sadly, my search for another BBQ...

Wanted to take a ride upstate as my family and I knew it would be a beautiful day and I knew the main reason for the trip was Chick E Ribs. Had eaten there in the Fall and the food was so delicious we vowed to take a trip in the Spring, which came 2 days early for us. Shawn was the perfect host making sure all was good with the food, while his wife and staff were so congenial with any questions. There was really no reason to ask if the food was good, it was terrific. The full rack of ribs came off the bone with a fork. The meat was perfectly cooked and sauced to perfection. The two sides were delicious and plentiful, those being the French fries and the onion rings which were thick and coated just right. I am so glad that this former "truck-stop eatery" has found a permanent brick and mortar location. 2 thumbs up for the great service and 5 stars for the delicious food. As we like to drive Upstate often from Long Island, bet on us being as regular customers as we can be.

UPDATED 5/25/2024: This local BBQ restaurant still has everything you can ask for. Anytime I go "Upstate" this is a destination for delicious and satisfying food. Shawn and his staff do everything possible to satisfy their customers, first with great service and then with great food. Prices are very reasonable and the portions are very big. Had the bbq 1/2 chicken and a full rack of ribs with my family. Both were simply delicious and the sides of onion rings and fries were also tremendous. You know that they aren't frozen but hand cut/made. Hats off to always quenching our desire for wonderful BBQ...

My wife and I took a quick ride to Liberty to my visit my Dad and do some grocery shopping. When we finished our errands, we were hungry so we looked online to see what was near us and we came across Chick-E-Ribs. The reviews were great so we decided to give them a try. We're so happy we did, because we absolutely LOVED it. We had the Pulled Pork Dinner and the Brisket Dinner along with sides of Mac & Cheese and Cole Slaw. We also got a half rack of ribs which were exquisite. So moist and tender and they literally fell off the bone. In both our dinner dishes, the meat was incredibly tender and juicy and full of flavor. The mac & cheese was creamy and cheesy and equally delicious and the cole slaw... which I myself don't normally eat... was amazing. It was fresh and loaded with flavor. We've had BBQ up and down the east coast and this is truly the best we've ever had. We highly recommend giving this place a try because not only is the food great, the owners are local folks who are friendly and put their heart and soul into making...
