Having lived 20+ years in SoCal, I know great authentic Mexican food and this ain't it. I was immediately disapointed with the salsa and guac. The salsa was bland, like no heat at all, and the quac came refrigerator cold and slightly gray, like it was made that morning... definately not fresh. Guacamole must be made to order, or better yet, tableside. Salsa and guac, these are the basics, and they serve as key indicators of what is to come. So, predictably, the burito was huge but had little flavor or personality; my 80 year old mother liked it though, and the bland salsa. My fajita was just sad... very mushy veg, onion and green pepper only, and the so called steak was thin and mushy too. No seasoning that i could detect. Seriously, i have had way better fajitas at El Toritos. Way better.
On the upside, the decore and atmosphere was fun and festive. There was a countdown to cinci de mayo at the bar, clever. Bartender said they were planning a tequila tasting on that day. Sounds like fun. I might attend that, but I am looking for a real authentic mexican restaurant with hommade molé poblano on the menu. That is the ultimate indicator of a great restaurant, the molé. The only place I know of that did it right was in Sodus, believe it or not, but the owner has closed for good, a well earned retirement.

Read moreLived in the Southwest for a decade and eaten plenty of authentic Mexican food. This wasn't it.
The whitest Mexican food I've ever had. I've had spicier mayonnaise. I ordered a side of jalapenos to add to my meal but the service was so slow they never showed up till the end of the meal and the bartender brought them over
Our waiter forgot one of the drinks which showed up 15 minutes later.
About 30 minutes later the meal finally showed up and they weren't that busy. 4 people at the bar and 2 other tables sat.
After the waiter finally brought the meals we never saw him again. Everyone was out of drinks, had to use my shirt sleeve to wipe my mouth because we couldn't even get more napkins.
The meal was boring and their salsa is awful. It tastes like salsa from a jug. We ordered some Pico to put in it to liven it up... still very bland.
This is a very safe place for spices because there's no danger of them being used.
My wife and I have a 3 strikes rule and this was our second try. The first time was bad but this 2nd time it was just so all around awful we can't give it the 3rd try.
Anybody who has ever eaten authentic Mexican food could never rate this cuisine anything remotely...
Read moreThe only enjoyable part of my meal was the plantain appetizer. Unfortunately, the overall experience was very disappointing. Service was slow even though the restaurant was not busy for a Saturday lunch. Several tables remained uncleared throughout the meal, and our seats had sticky drippings on them.
Our order was not handled correctly, and there was little attention to basic service. I requested lime with the chips and salsa, but the salsa itself was consistently bland, more like watered-down tomato juice with no seasoning. This was our fourth visit, and although we had hoped things would improve, this will be our last.
What was especially frustrating was the server pressing the “20%” tip option before handing over the payment machine. This would be questionable under any circumstances, but even more so when there were no drink refills, no table clearing, and no follow-up during the meal. The food was not remarkable, and the value was poor.
The final issue was unacceptable: a piece of chicken was served in a vegetarian enchilada that was listed on the vegetarian menu. Serving meat in a vegetarian dish is a serious mistake at worst, and a sloppy...
