Amsterdam Coffee Shop — Restaurant in Town of North Hempstead

Stopped by as we wanted a coffee before getting on the road to NJ and kids wanted bagels/muffins.

Put in our orders at the kiosk as they did not take any orders at the counter despite us being they only ones there.

2 adults, 2 kids. I ordered the El Cocoa medium ($9.99) plus a bagel and chocolate muffin for my son. My friend then ordered a tea, bagel sandwich and muffin. The kids decided they wanted hot chocolates so we each put in an additional order. My drink came out first but the employee just placed on the counter, not calling my name or indicating to me it was ready (or mine). Then started the 3 other cups for the drinks. My El Cocoa was only 3/4 full.

It took an extended amount of time to prepare the other drinks. After 20min, the rest of the drinks were still not done and no food given. The employee told us they were out of muffins (despite the sign saying served fresh daily and it only being 10am). He offered croissants instead, which I didn't really want and it was a different price. I asked for a refund and he told me that wasn't possible. So instead of getting the item we wanted, we paid $2 extra for something we didn't want.

When the rest of the order finally came out after 30min, my friend's order was wrong. She had ordered a bagel sandwich and had a plain bagel. We were stumped that it took 30min I make 4 drinks and grab stuff from the back they didn't have to prep.

While waiting for him to fix the sandwich another customer came in and her order was also just placed in the counter without telling her it was ready. I asked if she just ordered a got drink and she said yes, took her coffee and left. She came back a few moments later as she had ordered a specialty drink and was given a black coffee instead.

After 40min inside waiting, we finally received our order and was able to leave.

Highly disappointed as the pictures online made it seem like a great little place where both the adults and kids could get something they'd enjoy.

I’m not one to write negative reviews, but this has to be the worst coffee shop I’ve ever been to. Two SMALL lattes were 14$, and that would be acceptable I guess if It tasted good, but it truly taste like dusty coffee water - like an iced coffee that was left out for a few days. No taste of espresso at all, and this was a latte not an iced coffee. considering their claims they used the rarest and most expensive espresso roast, McDonald’s ice coffee taste better. The worker was very slow paced and didn’t seem to know what she was doing or even care. The latte was Luke warm and adding ice to it just made it taste even waterier and worse. Wow. i am so heavily impressed. I was around the area because i had a very important appointment to see and decided to grab a quick bite afterwards. The atmosphere is beautiful, like a real coffee shop. The employees was so welcoming, so joyful. loved it. The food?? it was so tasty and fresh. Perfectly cooked. Gold standard meal.
