Gelateria Dei Coltelli — Restaurant in Town of North Hempstead

Gelato is good, but be careful if you adventure in buying an ice cream cake. They have a beautiful cake catalog with about 50 pictures of awesome looking cakes. After buying their gelato on a frequent basis for the past few years, we decided that it was time to try one of their cakes. So for my daughter's 3rd birthday, we reviewed the catalog and picked a white round ice cream cake for 25 people with a series of fondant flowers. A week later when we went to pick it up, the cake was actually pink and square, for only 15 people and with just one plastic flower!! We all make mistakes, so when we raised the issue, we thought that they will apologize for the mistake and do everything they could to fix the situation...Instead, we, the customer, were treated like we were stupid. We were told the following series of unbelievable excuses: "the pictures in the catalog are from the past 5 years and just for display, not for ordering", "Sometimes we run out of supplies and we have to make changes", "you wanted flowers and we put a flower, what else do you want?", "The flavors inside are the ones you asked", "but if you really wanted for 25 people, that would have cost you more"...........I felt like I was in a tv show and they were teasing me....After a bunch of screaming and getting mad, they finally agreed to give us two containers of ice cream.....very sad, that when we try to help local businesses, they end up being rude and incompetent...We will sadly go back to Carvel or Cold Stone...sadly back to corporate america and its...

I adore this site so much. Since high school, I have visited this location. They always have fantastic ice cream available. I have recommended this shop to a lot of people because they are the loveliest. I have never had a terrible experience with anything they have to offer until today. Nevertheless, as soon as we walked in the door this evening, the employees seemed a little uneasy. After dinner, my three friends and I headed here, and the girl working the counter with curly hair and eyeglasses looked at us and giggled to her other co-worker, saying that this was the first time someone had been presented in this manner as soon as we stepped in. We all felt as though we were treated unfairly—possibly because we had brown skin. Yet I was astonished since I knew I had never experienced this. I believe it has to be changed. Second, my friend has a medical condition that makes it impossible for her to hold her urine. Despite our polite requests, they only allowed us to use their restroom the second time while my friend was using it. I'm not sure what was so funny that they felt the need to make jokes and laugh while she was using the restroom. When someone is present, I believe it comes out as quite impolite. I work at an extremely professional location and am a college student as well, yet nobody interacts the way these girls did. In my opinion, there needs to be a system where employees at least show consideration for the clients and perhaps refrain from chatting up other clients or making rude remarks until after...

We can not say enough good things! We LOVE Gelateria Dei Coltelli!! We go here all the time and every single time we go we are so pleased and happy to have gone! We go for the dairy-free sorbets (which, btw, this is the best place to go in all of Long Island if you are dairy-free or vegan because they use soy which makes all the flavors so creamy and delicious and unlike other ice cream shops that offer maybe just 1 sad or boring icy option, this place has an entire dairy-free section with always at least 6-10 flavors!!!!!!!!! It’s a DREAM!!!!)! They also make dairy flavors too of course which are super popular! Our absolute favorite flavor is the raspberry sorbet but we also like the passion fruit, chocolate, and I lovvvvveeeeeee when they have the vanilla chip or Java chip!! It’s so delicious it makes me so grateful that this place exists!! They also make crepes in house which always makes the place smell delicious and heavenly. If I had to make any suggestions it would be to please offer a dairy-free crepe options because I would LOVE to buy one!! Your place is the best!!! Always a line out the door because that’s how amazing it is! 11/10!!!!!
