Happy Garden — Restaurant in Town of North Hempstead

I am not the type of customer to ever write a review but my interaction with the owner today has urged me to do so. We have been loyal customers at Happy Garden for years and due to COVID our family had ordered takeout. Happy Garden had not asked for our address when ordering and had delivered it to the wrong house. When we called back to ask about the order the lady (claiming she was the owner) said that it was OUR fault that they had delivered it to the wrong house and wants US TO ADMIT WE WERE WRONG. They hung up on me after yelling at me saying that it was my fault. This is HORRIBLE customer service and they have lost a loyal customer. If they are willing to treat such dedicated customers like this I wouldn't even want to think about their interactions with...

So the place is dated and I hope it never changes. It's small, just about a handful of tables. Their main business sends to be takeout. But even a takeout place, the food is better fresh.

Thankfully we ate in and it was delicious! I know some people would say the sauces were too sweet, but General Tsao's Chicken is supposed to be. It was crispy and in sure I could ask for more spice.

The chicken and broccoli wasn't swimming in oil and the portion size was great. The pork lo mein was tasty, but I was a touch too oily.

The shrimp with vegetables in garlic sauce was absolutely delicious. Keep in mind this is American style Chinese food, not meant to be authentic.

I feel it's time to take my business elsewhere. I simply asked to make the sweet and sour sauce a little thicker as the past few times I found the sauce too watery (add more corn starch) and they were seemingly unwilling to actually accomodate--just needed a little extra corn starch? I also requested a little extra sauce for the shrimp with walnuts and was told an extra $3.00 charge; I use to get extra sauce for this dish in the past without the charge or any fuss. The conversation was polite, but these responses to simple requests from a longtime repeat customer was just disappointing so I will take my business elsewhere from now on as a matter...
