I NEVER, ever post on here but this is so beyond my comprehension I had to share: Today is my 9th day of being bedridden in the hospital eating hospital food so I needed to change it up.. called Umberto's of Manhasset and ordered a cauliflower crust personal pizza for myself and a Grandma pie for the hospital staff on my floor. The delivery guy called me when he got here and said he'd bring it up. Never brought it up. Then security called to say 'the pizza wasn't paid for so I called Umberto's of Manhasset and asked the girl who took my order and credit card, "why is delivery guy telling security that he needs to be paid? One of the nurses said she go down so I gave her $10 to tip the delivery guy. She comes back with the Grandma pie [which was ice cold] and the $10 tip stating the delivery guy left so she couldn't tip him. I call Umberto's of Manhasset for the 3rd time to make her aware the personal cauliflower crust was not delivered. She puts me on hold because she's trying to contact the driver. After 10 minutes of being on hold I suggested she just credit my credit card for the cauliflower crust. She puts me on hold again! Someone else picks up my call and tells me in the snottiest most obnoxious tone [your parents should be so ashamed of you] that they will not be crediting the personal cauliflower pie! I asked to speak with the owner and she hangs up on me! Not only am I appalled by the rude and lacking of customer service, [shame on Umberto's employees] but after telling them of my accident and injuries sustained and that I'd be here another 3 weeks they showed no compassion, no empathy, no respect whatsover and had the gall to treat me like a POS customer. There...
Read moreWe've been living here for 21 years and have only ever stopped in for a few slices of pizza during lunch. On this occasion, we had the opportunity to eat dinner here and it was surprisingly good. Service was very good. We started with a bottle of inexpensive red wine and some baked clams. The wine was totally acceptable and the baked clams were fresh, plump, seasoned well and served with a rich sauce (maybe olive oil and butter?-but very flavorful and perfect for dipping the complimentary, warm Italian bread). Our entrees were the scallops with risotto, linguine with white clam sauce, and the homemade sausage with broccoli rabe and sweet red peppers. Scallops were on the small side, but fresh and delicious, as was the risotto, served correctly, al dente, still slightly firm in the center. Linguine with white clam sauce included plump littlenecks in a flavorful, garlicky olive oil base, pasta was also just a touch past al dente, but totally delicious. The best dish of the night was the homemade sausage and broccoli rabe served with a side of linguine and marinara sauce. The sausage was juicy, not over cooked and the broccoli rabe was sauteed in sliced garlic and garnished with some sweet red pepper slices as well. The fennel wasn't strong and not overly salted. The serving size was generous and easily served 2. We finished up with some cappuccinos. Totally surprised that we haven't eaten dinner here sooner and also slightly surprised by the low ratings. Dinner for 3 with an appetizer and bottle of wine, tax and tip, just slightly under $200. Pretty fair for the quality, quantity and service....
Read moreI wish I can give 5 stars for everything but I had ordered a takeout meal and specifically put down no mushrooms and I have no clue what happened but when I picked up the pasta I saw they put extra mushrooms instead of none. Now, I thought maybe they were confused or something, but when I called I spoke to the big Hispanic dude who runs the counter, a gentleman to say the least, he’s always very helpful but this is where things took a twist. While I was talking to the gentleman, I’m guessing the higher up guy, older man, picked up the phone and started yelling at me and saying to fix myself? Again I specifically wrote no mushrooms and it’s in the system they can see it for their own eyes. The old man never fixed the issue, and never got another kitchen order from myself. The pizza is great and I’d rather deal with someone who is competent and respectful to their customer rather than deal with someone who think's they are perfect… shout out to the counter guys the short dude and the big broad...
