0/5 after I was treated the way I was. I had dirty silverware with food crusted all over it. I had to get up several times to request either refills, request items that were missing from our meals, and to even complain to get service due to the restaurant/waiters incompetency. This was a small special low-key casual get together since I am visiting family from the other side of the country for a few days. I have never been to this place, but my relatives ranted and raved about their fish fry--which I didn't even order since I don't like fish, but I assumed there were other options, and there were.
I'm not saying their fish fry is bad. I have no idea, since I don't eat seafood, what I am saying is their service and staff is horrible. It was quite a way to destroy an evening that was supposed to be nice. I received much better service at Chilis the night before for a quarter of the price.
I went to complain to management at the end of our meal while we waited about 10 minutes for the waiter to even come back and get us our check, and I told the manager/supervisor all these issues and how it made it unpleasant for the whole table, since it seemed like were constantly complaining. I asked that the least she could do is COMP one meal or beer or even the coffee that wasn't received in time to enjoy. After all, that evening between waiting at the bar to be seated and our meal, we spent over $200. The manager/supervisor's behavior was inappropriate when I expressed this, she immediately cut me off with a stern and rude "NO, we're short-staffed." .... and how is that my or any of her patrons' problem? If anything, that justifies horrible service? She's ruined our night, between the arguing and bickering of the experience. BTW, we STILL tipped the waiter although he definitely didn't deserve it, he couldn't even get the restaurant menu straight and made some sarcastic comment about mixing restaurant menus--I'm assuming that meant he works at 2, who knows. Then again, it isn't his problem that the restaurant was understaffed.
I wouldn't recommend this place, go to Maders if you're looking for something fancy, or some local high rated bar, until they get their act together and improve their customer service. As I said, I have no idea if their fish fry is good, I wasn't thrilled about the dish I ordered...all I kept hearing at the table was "the service was better last few times... this is horrible... I'm never coming here again..."
I wouldn't recommend the almond-crusted chicken dish; the noodles tasted like they were placed on the plate without straining and overcooked/soggy. The vegetables were for sure overcooked. The butter that came with the sourdough, was interesting, but good, so I have no complaints about that. The chicken was mediocre for its price. I'd stick to the fish since that appears to be their specialty.
I'd like to also add, that I felt that perhaps the manager/staff was not interested in my concern may have been due to my appearance. Perhaps I was too "low class" for their standards because I was with hispanic spanish speaking people? Perhaps I wasn't dressed to be treated with respect--I didn't know what "kind" of restaurant we were going to, so I went very casual after a long day enjoying the outdoors, but then again, I saw other dressed in very casual attire. I do believe there was some bias snobbery towards...
Read moreCame here on Wednesday date night dinner with my wife and our experience was less than average that left us disappointed. It's been a month since we went out without our kids. The table that we were sat at had a great view. We were right by the window with panoramic view of the lake. The ambiance was good. Unfortunately, none of the food really stood out that we would order again. We ordered a couple of things of staters. The tuna tartare tower was not good at all. The tuna was brown and very fishy it seemed like it was leftovers from a few days ago. It was warm as well. None of the 3 sauces really elevated or mask the punget fishy taste. This is a cold seafood appetizer and felt like it was warmer than room temperature. It was sitting for a long time pre-prepared. We also ordered a normal salad with fresh fruits, so we thought. They used canned pears and canned clementines. The lettuce were reddish/brown and mushy. They used old salad greens that were rotting. For the price that we paid for the Tuna Tower and Salad we were expecting fresher ingredients. The best part of our meal were our soups. My beef soup was piping hot and well seasoned and flavorful. My wife's seafood chowder had very good depth in flavor. My wife had the Schnitzel. She said it was okay. The peppercorn gravy/sauce was was not flavorful at all. The spaetzle was good. I had the duck. I was deeply disappointed. My entree was cold and the skin was not crispy at all. It's half a duck and it was slow roasted. So, it must have been heated in the oven before it was served. The best part of my entrée was the spaetzle. Both entrées were served with hericót verts(French Green Beens) they were rubbery camo-green. The texture you get with frozen vegetables. The reason for the three stars and not one star is because of the lake view. You shouldn't be able to charge that much for the food that are subpar. Service was okay nothing outstanding. We had 2 cocktails, 2 appetizers, 2 soups, and 2 entrées at $143. Again, the view made t dinner more palatable. In the future I would go here for a few drinks and the view. There are many other restaurants that will serve higher quality foods with better ingredients where the produce are not brown, rotten, and frozen. I should have taken pictures and attached it to...
Read moreWe were going to have our September 14, 2024 vow renewal ceremony and reception here. We have been here before for several events. The food and service had always been good. However, in planning our vow renewal with Golden Mast was a disappointment. The banquet contract states we should have had a tasting but we're told only weddings get tastings. The only difference is that we are already legally married....everything else was the same. That being said, we spent ovgğ We were going to have our ceremony and reception there. We are having an officiant to perform the ceremony. We would have been having the same ceremony and reception that everyone else is. The room Golden Mast offered us was supposed to hold 50 people. We stated we were going to have 50 guests. Yet, when we asked about room setup, we were given seating for 36 guests. When we asked what specific table sizes so we could purchase the correct linens, we were made to feel like we were "bothering" the banquet coordinator. The way the room was set up was not going to allow for all of our giests to view us. We expressed concerns about that room but was told there was not another area due to the time of year. We had also asked about use of the bridal room, on multiple occasions, to get ready on-site prior to our ceremony. Golden Mast could not commit to an answer. Rather, they told us, if the wedding party in the larger room upstairs was going to have their ceremony on-site, it would not be available to us. We inquired about having pictures taken at the Gazebo, but, again, because of the other party, that would be off limits. We were told our ceremony would be held buy the fountain. It was actually going to be held by the lighthouse (with a water feature). There was no room to have a DJ or even dancing if we created and managed our playlists connected to Bluetooth speakers. In the end, we moved to a different venue and have been treated so much better than at The Golden Mast . We feel the whole ceremony and reception was not significant tho them. We feel that this was an...
