STAR MIX GRILL restaurant — Restaurant in Town of Oneonta

Star Mix Grill is my favorite restaurant in Oneonta. It's a little hole in the wall nestled between a McDonald's and a Rite Aid pharmacy. But don't let its modest appearance fool you. Star Mix has some of the best food you will eat in Oneonta or even anywhere in Otsego County for that matter.

In particular, the lamb gyro is the best sandwich you can get in the city--better even than the ones from Wise Guy Sammy's and Undercover Eggplant Co. The gyros are rich, succulent and full of flavor. Also, unlike Subway, Star Mix doesn't skimp on the meat. Pieces of lamb are literally falling out of the wrap and the white sauce is to die for. It is one of the best meals I've ever had, and at $5.99 it's a steal. I'd happily pay double that for such terrific food.

I love Star mix and their food so much. The owners are so wonderful and the food is crafted with clear passion and love. i recently came to find that alongside some fantastic falafel they also serve some of the best burgers oneonta has to offer. Today I happily ordered a burger knowing how wonderful it was going to be. While I waited, I was disturbed to hear a woman berating the staff about her “slimy” burger (that she ate in its entirety). I couldn’t believe my ears as she whined that her burger wasn’t dry enough (she requested that it be well done and nearly burnt, so we can all assume her taste was as wretched as her attitude). We decided spontaneously to go out to dinner tonight. After looking online to find a place to eat, we came across Star Mix Grill. I am so happy that we did. My husband had the lamb gyro and I had a chicken gyro. The gyro's were stuffed full of food and a good portion of that was meat. The food was fresh and HOT. It did not taste old like many places, where they cook food too far ahead. The meat was tender on each of our plates and our sides also came out hot. They were very hospitable and friendly.
