Disappointed! Was referred to this place for prime rib by a friend. I’ve been here before for drinks during the summer. Nice atmosphere, love the location near the water. It was a Monday night Not busy at all. Ordered dozen clams that were no bigger than a quarter. The chicken vegetable soup that wasn’t even warm. Although it was fresh, with flavor. I prefer my soup hot. Ordered the prime rib “rare”. Came out fast; except it was “medium”. It was tough, flavorless and previously frozen then it sat till it was re warmed. Prime rib should be cut off the roast and served as ordered. “The juices of the meat should remain intact which is what gives it its flavor and tenderness. I couldn’t finish it, very tough hard to cut. Prime rib should be slow cooked and cut with ease. It was supposed to be a 15 ounces. I disagree. When I was asked how everything was, I replied… well it’s not cooked how I asked but it’s late and I’m starving. This isn’t how to retain clients. The mashed potatoes were almost soup. Broccoli and carrots were good. Sadly I couldn’t get thru half of it. My wine was nearly finished for 35 minutes (which was when I put my napkin in my plate because I was finished eating) only to be asked if I wanted another glass as I was getting up to leave. “No thanks check please” Being in the restaurant industry it’s important to make sure clients are satisfied. Especially with all that’s going on in the crazy market and difficult times. I wanted a good Monday spot, but I can’t justify coming back. I sat at the bar because a friend couldn’t make it. It was late, and those sitting close by weren’t courteous of their loudness talking to one another sitting inches apart. Overall, an uncomfortable experience. Updated response: your specials menu didn’t reflect “little neck clams” it just said “clams”. Actually $2 oysters/clams $1. Nor did it have your Monday night prime rib on it either. As I said, I was referred here. As mentioned I truly wanted to enjoy this meal. I drove 45 minutes for it and specifically later in the evening to avoid a busy spot. Should I have sent back the “clams” because the menu reflected otherwise? And the cold soup? Maybe even the prime rib that wasn’t cooked correctly for $40? Might as well sent it all back right? If you check the temperature of each piece of fish and steak that comes out why not check the prime rib or soup? (Soup was good tho) sitting at a bar with noise isn’t a problem. It’s to be expected I agree. Not saying it’s the establishments wrong doing, however at a fine location such as this people should be more considerate. It’s not a Hoboken Irish pub on St. patty’s day.

The atmosphere is spacious and comfortable. We ordered little necks and fried calamari to start . The flavor was delicious and the food was fresh. As entries we ordered , Montreal NY Strip Steak, and Lobster Pockets in a penne vodka sauce. All of our dishes were flavorful and the steak perfectly cooked and a good cut of meat. The only flaw was that we wished we had a few extra lobster pockets as the portions didn’t warrant the price and felt more like a tapas. Maybe a lil bread to scoop up the delicious vodka sauce. I highly recommend the pomegranate cosmo as a refreshing drink. Our waiter Nelson was wonderful and not overbearing, and paying attention to detail. He was familiar with the dishes and was able to eloquently describe them to us. He allowed us the time we needed to order and eat and socialize without making us feel rushed. Thanks Nelson ! Finally, I prefer to have an itemized check , showing each item and the price to make sure the bill is correct. Instead Rivertown generalizes all the entries into one total. Who remembers what the cost of their meal was? No one! This is a short cut that should not be taken . Give the customer a detailed bill of sale so everyone has a clear understanding of why the bill was what it was. Overall its a great restaurant and we recommend it.

The locals have been on an avid Holiday hunt for good prime rib in Rockland County. Once again RIVERTOWN Taphouse delivers. A fabulous prime rib with sides veggies & baked potato! The menu all around is top drawer 5 ⭐️the service personable & efficient. Michelle went out of her routine to assure my 8:30 pm prime rib. (Only Mondays these days so I would call first)! The cocktails are also memorable … and a great wine & beer list) I’ve been enjoying this restaurant 2 years plus since moving to the area. It’s worth a drive . The holiday light display out front & inside are Rockefeller Center equitable. Do yourselves a favor & dine here in the Holidays🌲 VERY COVID SAFE!

We were walking along the water and decided to end the evening with a something to eat and drink.. Hostess was good sat us immediately at the table we requested, have to be honest service was not good at all. I am very kean on detail we ordered are drinks and food at the same time do to the fact we had limited time we ordered little neck clams they were acaully pretty good , we also ordered the pasta special i asume it would have been good but we didn't get to try it do to the fact that both items acaully took about 25 minutes to come out which is crazy because it was not that busy and majority of the tables already had their food, when it did come out it was plain penne vodka not the special that we ordered. We sent the dish back with the food runner from being in the bussiness for 25 years FOH AND BOH the server should have came over within minutes he did not as should have the manager. When we ask for the check we told him what happen he tried to say no we ordered penne vodka I said to him we pointed rite at the plate and said we want the special with shrimp, arugula and Sdt. I really feel that he didn't care because we were a 2 top and he figured it was not worth the tip but little does he know we are more drinkers then eaters if he was more on top of the table he would have got 2 more beers out of us each that would have been a total of 6. Also if he was a little more confident in the Bartender when I ask how their old fashion was that would have brought the check up even higher. Moral of the story never judge a book by the cover. So when bringing the check he acually came back with the pasta and you can have it if you want the manager took it off the check like he was doing me a favor. What you should have done was took the last 2 beers off the check not food you messed up or make the dish that we wanted and take that of the check. I do not like complaining for people to hear so I said nothing but this great server MECHELLE notice something was wrong and came up and apologized and we must thank her for that and because of her we will probaly give the place another shot. Also we notice when he put the beers on the table how dirty his hands and nails were this should be a big no no with everything going on rite now. So for the hostess and mechelle keep up the GREAT WORK!!! They are the main reason I am...

Very upset about the latest experience...and my last experience I will encounter here. I am a healthcare worker and my entire household consists of essential workers. So as a household with less financial strain then others we often want to give back to our community. After months of long work days, we all took some much needed R&R and have been on stay-cation as a family and are consciously spend our money around this beautiful township we call home (#orangetown). Today my daughter and i decided to go to Rivertown Taphouse for lunch...we've been here a few times before with much better experiences. We read the limited menu and a make our dining choice. My daughters meal was listed with french fries as a side to her sandwich and i asked for a side of fries to go with my app. Shortly after, the waiter tells us they don't have french fries. So we both decide we will finish our drinks and cancel our orders. The waiter comes back and tells us the cook will now be able to make homemade fries for us. We stay true to our decision to cancel our meal as we have already decided to have lunch someplace else. Shortly after that I'm approached but who I assume is the manager or owner of this restaurant. She also says that her cook will make us homemade fries now if we wanted to keep our order. I politely tell her "no thank you" we will just finish our drinks and be on our way. She proceeds to ask if we wanted something else from the menu and I explain the menu was limited so not really...she then tells me...if i didn't realize we are in the middle of a pandemic and have limited staff and this is why the menu is limited. Obviously i am fully aware of the pandemic and her comment was uncalled for and rude...I in turn handed her my credit card and told her thank you, that will be all. She took my card, then returned with it and told me the drinks were on the house and patted me on the shoulder and said in a condescending tone, have a nice day. I've never been so disrespected by a business before, and especially during these trying times. We have actively order from several restaurants in the area during this time and everyone is so nice and appreciative. I wont be going back and spending mine or my families hard earned money to this...
