Master Chef is the first venture of a mainland Chinese restaurateur in America , and a very successful venture at that ! One goes to a fine restaurant to relax , to be cared for , to have comforts one might not have at home or in other establishments ......and in this , Master Chef succeeds masterfully ! The food is excellent , but of course many dishes are on the sweet side to cater to Long Island tastes . I can not say enough about the service : warm , considerate , attentive and responsive to one's needs . While the menu is a little pricey , it is no more so than other fine north shore establishments ( the exceptional tea served for free , I believe Longing , as well as the fruit delivered with the check , actually make the meal a bargain when compared to other locales ) . With very comfortable seating , beautiful décor , gentle music and clean , well designed lavatories , how could one complain ? We love the place ! By the way , this establishment replaces the old Empire Szechuan , a run down ( albeit with good food ) extension of a...
Read moreTotal rip off, 1. the roti app for $10 is ridiculous. They are selling a frozen remade product you can buy at H-mart your self. If they made it fresh with the basic dough then I would've appreciated that than a frozen roti dough you can buy for 25 cents. The curry sauce is also a premed package item, most definitely not fresh.
The honey walnut is also a rip off, for over $40, at least give me more than 14 pcs of shrimp and throw in some broccoli like a real Chinese restaurant. PS. the shrimp is also a frozen product. flavor is nothing special.
The Duck is also not fresh, it was made days ago and upon ordering. it was reheated. That is why the skin gets so dark and almost all of the fat is rendered out. The skin is not crispy as Peking duck should be, for over $80 this is a disgrace to Chinese cuisine.
I have no idea how this place is still in business. Don't recommend unless you enjoy getting ripped off.
Note to the restaurant. If you charge these prices then at least make your own damn roti dough. its just...

The lobster was served without an additional plate for the shells, and when we looked for assistance, the waitstaff seemed to be gathered on the opposite side of the restaurant, avoiding interaction. The lack of attentiveness and basic hospitality made it difficult to enjoy what should have been a pleasant meal.
We left disappointed, as hospitality and care for guests seemed absent. This experience has regrettably made us...
