La Spezia — Restaurant in Town of Oyster Bay

Food take a long time to come out of the kitchen (okay them make everything fresh) My guess is they could have a substantial quantity of food pre cooked and not lose any quality in the products. The sides and vegetables are better than the main course.

The food whilst acceptable is not special Generally bland, cooked well but under seasoned. Food I feel I could have cooked my self and had similar results. The owners and staff are very nice and friendly but seem to not be addressing the obvious problem with the speed of the kitchen.

Even stunningly slow in delivering on a simple request for hot water for tea took about 12 minutes to come to the table after ordered. Maybe some people like spending 2 hours at a restaurant for average food but not for me.

All in all I would go back and eat there again but only if invented by someone. I do not think I would think of going back on my own accord.

I recently had a small party for my son Baptism at this restaurant, and I cannot say enough good things about it. From start to finish, the experience was great. The food was nothing short of excellent--every dish was bursting with flavor, beautifully presented, and served hot and fresh. Our guests couldn't stop raving about it! Atmosphere here is and always been very loud due to poor acoustics. This was not such an issue due to overcompensating food and service. The service yesterday was poor. Had to wait for server to come over as he looked to be too “busy”. He constantly was reaching over us (8 of us) to serve. Also, our first bottle of wine was not good and had to sent back. We had to stop the help from taking away plates until we all finished. Once we were finished, the bus boy was leaving our dirty utensils on the table, which even if we were having another course, should have been replaced! Food was ok but chicken dissent had too much sauce and not enough chicken. The tomato sauce was laden with large stringy onion pieces and the broccoli rabe had too much of the bitter stems left on.
