Careful when you are booking the party room. I needed a place to hold a pre-HS Reunion get together. I stopped here and spoke to Peter the manager. They have a party room upstairs that would work. My dilemma was that I couldn't nail down the exact amount of people attending. Peter told me that's okay "I want to earn your business". When I hear that I know that this person is willing to work with me. I called him two days in advance to say I have possibly 16 people coming...maybe less, maybe more. He said no problem. 15 showed up but 2 had to leave due to a family commitment. So 13 all together. When I received the bill, he charged me for 15. When I pointed out the mistake, he told be there was a minimum of 15 upstairs. He never told me that and on the package sheet he gave me when I first walked in, it's not mentioned at all. (see photo) On top of that, we only received plain pizza. No other pizza types were offered which was part of the package. So I paid for 15. I work at a popular Long Island destination just a few minutes away. I have people from out of town always asking me where is the best Long Island Pizza...trust me, this place will never roll off my tongue. I guess you will never earn my business. Foot note: Nicholas, our server was...
Read moreHow can an owner be so foolish to upset 6 regular customers so badly that he lost them?! On Friday 13, the tall owner, I believe his name is Peter, at the Mario’s restaurant at 635 Old Country Rd., Plainview, did just that. We went once or twice a week for years for dinner and drinks, and had multiple parties upstairs. My friend is a baker and always brings her special occasion cake to Mario’s restaurant without a problem. Friday she made a cake celebrating 2 of the regular’s birthdays and brought it. The owner, would not allow it. He caused an embarrassing scene demanding $9 a guest to cut the cake for us. He said he’d be losing money if he permitted customers to bring their own cake. He could have done it very discreetly for customers your wait staff knows very well. He embarrassed us all in front of the entire restaurant, in our own neighborhood! He was condescending, rude, and disrespectful to people who bring him customers and money. A friendly, caring owner would have bought us a round of drinks as a thank you for being such great customers and celebrate the special days at Mario’s restaurant. We will never go back for any reason. The 6 of his once loyal customers will not be walking into his restaurant again. He lost at lot...
Read moreMario's Ristorante & Pizzeria blew our mind! Our third grade class went on a field trip to Mario's and we couldn't be happier (or stuffed)! As we entered the restaurant, the staff greeted us right away. They all had huge smiles on their faces and seemed genuinely happy to see us. Our tables were ready for us and we were seated right away. We were offered water or lemonade as soon as we sat down. Next, we were given baskets of hot, garlicky, and cheesy garlic knots. Wow! They were delicious. Up next was pizza or chicken strips. If you were really hungry, you could have both!! Let's talk about the pizza. It was served hot. The crust was crunchy and the pizza was cheesy. The chicken was also served hot and crispy, and you need to dip it in the sauce that came with the dish. It was amazing! When we were done with what we had, we were offered more! The waiter was very friendly and was checking on us constantly to see what we needed. He cleaned up all of our plates and napkins as soon as we were done. All of the staff waved goodbye to us and thanked us for our visit. Mario's is the place for you if you love good pizza and good service. Now, hop in your car...
