If I could give zero stars I would. Please save your money and do not go here! At Neptune diner They do not appreciate their customers whatsoever. I was excited about getting a new renovated diner Not so far from my home in Huntington & wanted to check it out. Last week, I decided to give it a try for breakfast. My boyfriend and I had come in, not very welcoming not much of a greeting.. We saw a man who sat us down at a booth with menus. We waited a very long time for anyone to come over at all. The man who sat us down who I believe is a host saw that we didn’t get a cup of coffee or anything for about 10 minutes. Finally, a server comes over and we ask for coffee in a paper cup. We’ve been doing this since Covid and decided to continue doing this even if we pay a fee. Which I must say most places do not charge you. It took a while to get the coffee and about five minutes later we finally get our coffee.. to be honest with you at some point I really wanted to pay for the coffee and leave. But my boyfriend convinced me to stay. They are completely understaffed. The servers are getting the coffees trying to take orders going in and out of the kitchen. It’s impossible to do that early in the morning during a breakfast rush. The only other server I saw was on the other side of the diner and he was alone as well. We order our breakfast prices are pretty high for eggs bacon and home fries But if it’s great, it’s worth it. Again we wait for our breakfast seemed like 20 minutes we get it and it’s just OK. Nothing to write home about. The vibe in here is very off. It’s unfriendly uninviting but yet it’s beautifully Renovated..It feels like you’re in the twilight zone weird vibes. When we left we paid, we left a great tip. No thanks for coming, No, we’d love to see you again. This diner has 3 locations according to the menus When I asked the host/manager to make conversation where in Brooklyn and Queens? he had no idea. OKkkkkay
Moving forward, I decided to give it another chance today with my boyfriend we came in, and we not greeted once again. There was a woman there with a stone cold face she walked us over to a booth put the menus down and walked away no pleasantry Nothing so the wait begins again. 8 minutes before anyone comes over and asks about coffee. two servers for a huge diner no staff walking around to give refills on coffee or pour coffee very backwards. I ordered the coffee the same way I did the last time in a paper cup. My boyfriend and I are waiting anxiously for our coffee as it’s first thing in the morning. About five minutes later, the woman upfront with the stone face goes over to the booth in front of us and starts asking two elderly women if they ordered coffee in a paper cup that they don’t do that.. I over hear & call her attention and say I ordered it that way. She begins to tell me we don’t do that. I said I can’t drink from a mug I was here last week with no issue. She tells me we can do it for you now, but we can’t do anymore because everyone will want it that way with such a stone face. She then walks away without me being able to respond.
I said let’s go. I tell her my experience the last time that there wasn’t an issue having a paper cup and my experience this time in waiting so long they are completely understaffed. she just looks at me again with a stone face tells me it’s the owners choice. And I said I’ll never come here again and I walked out. This is After recommending the place to some friends. There are other places in the area that are very good..I called the other location to leave a message for the owner manager and never received a call back. That tells you everything. If you want a nice breakfast, go to “Over Easy”in Huntington Village you feel like you’re on vacation atmosphere, food & People are amazing. No...
Read moreI was super excited to seen this opened in my town. I used to go to Neptune Diner in Astoria and Bayside for YEARSSS! When first walking in hostess were extremely nice and sat us right away. The atmosphere and decor was beautiful! Like no Diner I have ever seen. Bright and very nicely done.
I got the crown heights burger medium rare. It was cooked properly and very good. Something about Diner burgers are just nostalgia for me. This wouldn't be a gourmet burger, just a great Diner style burger. My wife got the French Onion burger that came with a side of french onion soup to dip. It looked just how I like it, super messy.
The only reason why this place didnt get 5 stars from me was it took over 10 minutes before our waitress greeted us. After placing the order it did take a while for the food to arrive. Waitress didn't check on us to make sure food was okay. Next time we saw her was when we were finished and she brought the check without us even asking for it. No water refills either during the whole time. Could be due to it just being newly opened and adjusting. Im sure once they are established and get thing rolling this will be corrected. I will give this a try again. Hopefully, the wait staff service will be better...
Read moreThis used to be the Celebrity Diner, but with new owners, it has been completely renovated. The space is beautiful and the service is good. The prices are high, much higher than they already were, which is partly why I only gave it four stars. The portions are very big, but not always good. I ordered a salmon sandwich which was rather soggy, and the following week I ordered a salad that had arugula, quinoa and pomegranate seeds. I got a huge plate of just that. I expected to see a tomato, cucumber, something else to add to the flavor. Every bite was just arugula soaked with lemon and lime juice with a few pomegranate seeds dusted with quinoa, so it all tasted the same. But there was enough to feed 6 people, so at least that. Lunch for 4 people with no added beverages, appetizers or dessert was $180, which I feel is a bit unreasonable. The only reason I go there is because my dad is familiar with it and has Alzheimer’s, so I don’t want to take him somewhere unfamiliar. I have it four stars because the people are nice and the food is usually good. But at these prices, I think they will lose customers unless they start charging...
