We are really excited to have a good German beer and food place in the area and tried it twice - the first time beer and pretzel only (2 of us), the second time beer and food (5 of us). We have some suggestions because we would really like it to work but don’t see ourselves coming back without changes. Beer- more selections and be careful not to run out (ipa’s were out both times). Wine- document the brand on the menu, and consider adding some better brands. Food- make sure to serve hot (bratwurst and spaetzle were cold), be careful not to let spaetzle get mushy (taste was good but texture was poor), add different sausages to the mix, consider grilling over an open fire visible to restaurant like in a Weihnachtsmart (which will also add atmosphere and aroma), (and most importantly of all — serve a wurst on or next to a real rundstuck, not a hotdog or sub bun. That is game changer. Warm it up so it’s crispy on outside and warm and soft inside (set it on the grill once that is in place). If you don’t want to make them, Wegmans Portuguese or French rolls come half baked and can be warmed in an oven. Add menu items when ready. The location is great. Swan’s is great. Beer is ok. Atmosphere was ok (nothing special). Wine was poor. Food was poor. How it’s put together makes all the difference. Visit a German town and experience the large difference you can make with inexpensive...
Read moreThis place is quite simply one of the best breweries I have ever had the chance to visit - and I have been to a LOT! As a long-time home brewer, the sheer quality PLUS variety of the beers these artisans craft is just amazing. I did not have a beer here that wasn’t excellent. When a brewery makes a great Hefeweizen, marzen, Pilsner, English porter, American smoked porter, IPA, and a very drinkable autumn spiced ale, you know you have found a home for your beer drinking activities. All I can say is Wow!
The brewery is located in a convenient (read easy parking) and spacious site in an old cannery building. Lots of space between tables (for either Covid-cautious or simply people who are over super crowded pubs), a very nice outdoor patio space, and very clean and well cared for beer drinker paradise awaits.
This brewery has a STEINWAY GRAND PIANO!!! I have never seen that before anywhere! They have music many nights, but my impression was that it is a sophisticated space with great musicians appearing. I would imagine musicians would be attracted to the roomy space and the excellent piano. Very cool.
Give it a try and ask for owner Matthias to tell you more about their vision… they were a super enthusiastic crew about all things beer and we had a most enjoyable evening sampling all the...
Read morePretty bummed by our service at this place. Probably the worst experience we’ve had in awhile. Our waitress forgot like 80% of the things we asked for and we had to ask twice for. She forgot our water, our mustards, and our appetizer which didnt come out before or after we got our entrees, and when we asked she just kinda smoothly went “that should be out soon” when we all knew she forgot. By that time we were so frustrated we didn’t even want it. Service was really slow too, we kept feeling like she was completely forgetting about us along with everything we asked for. My bf paid extra for a second side but she just replaced the one side with what he intended to be extra as well. The food itself, some things were good and some were really lacking. The cheese plate was pretty boring and didn’t really seem like something menu worthy. And the weiner schnitze, a huge portion of meat, didn’t seem sufficiently complemented by the potato salad that it came with. We weren’t really wowed by any part of...
