Overall a good experience! Was really excited to try this new vietnamese place as a lot of other ones are further out in Rochester. I ordered the Bun bo hue (spicy beef noodle soup) - it wasn't spicy but they come with chili oil and sriracha on the side for you to add in). The broth was good but arrived warm and not piping hot (which is essence of pho in my opinion) and the brisket was really tough to eat. The other things in it were tasty though. My husband got the grilled pork vermicelli bowl and he said it was good. We both got non alcoholic lychee spritz which was good. Just that when the bill arrived they charged us $20 for 2 instead of $8 for 2 but they fixed it when I mentioned it. I think it was just an honest mistake considering they just opened so it's not too big of a deal. The atmosphere is cute, very dimly lit which I feel fits more of an evening vibe. It would be nice to have the lights brighter during the day. But overall, it was a good experience! The waitresses there were very nice and friendly and I would come back to try other dishes...
Read moreA very welcomed new restaurant to the Basin area! Food has been fantastic, service is great, and the vibe is just right. The family that owns the restaurant has been nothing but delightful and fun. The food is mostly homemade family recipes and it clearly shows. Each time we have been it has been bustling and busy which is great to see. If you’re looking for fast or fast casual, this might not be the right spot for you. Go have a cocktail, order an app (or two), and enjoy some great Vietnamese food. The Pho, Chicken udon noodle soup, fresh shrimp spring roll, fried pork egg roll and papaya salad have all been absolutely fantastic. Looking forward to sampling the rest of the menu over the next few months. Hats off to Jeremy, Mark, and the rest of the family for always making us feel welcomed. Give this place a shot - you won’t be...
Read moreI do not relish writing this review, in fact I didn't want to do it at all. But, I need to tell the truth no matter how much bothers me. I gave this place a few weeks to get their rhythm down and I never go in with high expectations for a new restaurant. Pho King is new and as a former pro cook I have to tell it like it is- and I hate to do it, but Pho King is the REAL DEAL! Now all you Johnny-come-latelies can go and spread the word about the how fresh the spring rolls are, and how the unami of the broth makes you want to cry and how the service person was on us in less than a minute, how I watched the chefs from my seat at the bar do their kitchen ballet like Baryshnikov at the MET. So, go ahead, spread the word like a town crier, make the place crazy popular! It's just...
