Mediterranean Xpress — Restaurant in Town of Poughkeepsie

Nothing between the pictures and descriptions on their website, to the actual items received! There’s no Pitta bread, but a regular industrial Greek pita wrap. 3 falafel balls which were dry, not cooked on the inside and with a sour aftertaste - means the chickpeas were getting spoiled during preparation. Rice - totally bland. And with the chicken shawarma: if you know what chicken shawarma is, that supposed to be marinated chicken cooked on a vertical rotisserie, and sliced thinly (even per their website), well, that chunk / slices of chicken that were swimming in a liquid on the heating tray (so it won’t get dry waiting on someone’s order) - that’s not a shawarma! Period! It’s fairly thicker sliced chicken (compared to shawarma) that with a chance were done on a flat top, and tossed into that liquid… rice was a good portion, but very little meat. Truly was hoping for a good shawarma/Mediterranean place in our area, but this really not a place I was hoping for… I guess maybe because knowing what to expect from...

Was having a really bad day, and while sitting in the food court waiting for a phone call, I suddenly got hungry.. I wanted something fresh and hot and did NOT want Chinese food, pizza or Taco Bell… that’s when I decided to try Mediterranean Xpress for the first time… and they are the best food in the mall. The staff is exceptionally quick and friendly, and my falafel wrap was perfect. Fresh and crispy falafel with fresh produce like onions and lettuce and tomatoes and a drizzle of delicious tzatziki. There aren't many vegan options in the mall and I was really happy to find a great one. The falafel at Mediterranean Xpress is very fluffy and delicious, as is the rice. When he offered me yogurt sauce and I began to decline, he immediately offered me tahini sauce and specified that it's dairy-free. He knew what's up. Very happy and thankful for the awesome service and big, delicious plate of food I got for a great price. I was just passing through but if I end up in Poughkeepsie again, I'll definitely stop by here...
