The movie going experience is a very delicate process. The smallest thing gone wrong can destroy the entire experience. To truly enjoy a movie, one must walk into the theater with an unoccupied, unstressed mindset. Regal Cinemas in Poughkeepsie ruined the movie going experience at every possible facet. First we entered the theater to get our tickets. Me and my elderly father stood on two separate lines before one of the employees clarified that there is only one line and open register that takes cash. The line took 10 minutes which made us 10 mins late to the movie. The only place to pay in cash is at the concession stand, so we had to wait behind every popcord and candy buyer before we could even get our tickets. Then there was the ticket puncher. This fat, old, lazy curmudgeon was extremely rude. I said something like "I have 2!" And he replied with a mean response. The guy's name is Frank. He's pictured in my photos. He's the one sitting down helping a customer (helping would probably be incorrect to be honest). A movie greeter or ticket puncher is the last interface one sees before entering a theater. They should be happy, friendly, helpful, and ready to go. This man was in every way the opposite. We finally got to the theater and the movie was already playing. And not only that but with every light on in the theater. Once I got my elderly Dad seated, I was forced to venture back out to notify the ticket puncher of the lights. He did not believe me and then said that they were supposed to be on. When I clarified, he asked me to describe the lights like I was some sort of electrician. After a conversation that wasn't necessary, he rudely contacted a Jon to fix the problem over a walkee. No thank you to me for notifying him about the problem. When I finally got back to the theater, Jon had fixed the lights and was leaving. He apologized to me and I took my seat. Later during the flick, Jon came in and had a conversation with 2 of the movie goers behind us. This was very distracting. Not sure what was going on, but the distraction lasted for a few minutes. And then the lady in front of us pulled her phone out every 15 minutes. With all the stress, annoyance, and headache, I can't even form a fair opinion of the movie. The entire experience was ruined my Frank, Regal, and the customers. Do yourself a favor, go to the Rosendale Theater, the Orpheum in Saugerties, Tinker St. cinema in Woodstock, or at least NCG in Kingston. Support a private, local owned theater. They'll treat you better and give you an experience you want. Regal charges too...

Let me start off by saying if you want to take your family out for a kids movie night, do not come here! The first issue is that parking! How can a young family get from their car with car seats and toddlers that are not able to walk! I feel as if I had to walk a mile to get to the front door! Secondly, why do y’all continue to put the kiddie movies at the back of the movie theater? Theres not reason why again I have to walk with my son whom is speacial needs and cannot walk, a car seat, and a 4 year old all the way to theater 12 to see Despicable Me 4 at 8 pm! Mind you, it was a nude tight uncomfortable fit with everyone kicking our seats! So thank you Regal for that one! Last time I came to see Inisde Out 2 in Theater 14 and that was difficult as well! My last and final straw was the fact that I attempted to use the family bathroom and to my surprise it was locked! I had a 6 month old to change, myself and my 4 y/o had to use the bathroom. I ask the gentleman who had the nice big curly hair if he could unlock it. He lets me know that he doesn’t have the keys and that maybe someone is in there. I let him know that I have knocked and so did my child. It was dark and no one answered. Again I was met with he could not unlock the door. So I had lots of fun holding a baby while using the restroom :)
Thank you Regal Cinemas for the Unpleasant time I had tonight! You have shown me not once but more than twice why I will no longer be a patron at your establishment. You are not acccomadating in anyway to families! You treat us like we are second class citizens and all we want is to have some nice family time with our...
Read moreGreat Movie, Terrible Conditions — Unsafe for Guests and Staff!!! I came to see the new Superman movie, which was great — but the theater experience itself was completely unacceptable. The entire facility had a strong sewage smell that made it hard to enjoy the movie, and none of the bathrooms were operational, which is completely inappropriate for a venue showing long, 2.5+ hour films.
After the movie, I was forced to walk alone through a dark, nearly empty mall to access a bathroom located down an isolated hallway — a situation that felt unsafe and unnecessary, especially at night. I then had to make my way back through the theater just to return to my car due to where I parked. This is not only inconvenient — it’s unsafe.
I want to sincerely thank David, the manager on duty, who handled my concerns as professionally and compassionately as he could. He listened, validated my experience, and did what he could within the limits of the situation. However, I couldn’t help but feel bad for him — he shared that he also has to leave the theater and go through the same dark mall just to use the restroom. That’s not only unacceptable for guests, but for employees as well.
It’s clear that this issue has been ongoing, and it’s deeply disappointing. A business should take better pride in not just their customer experience, but also in providing a safe and dignified environment for their staff. The lack of working restrooms, the odor, and the unsafe conditions should be addressed immediately.
Until real improvements are made, I won’t be returning — and I urge others to consider whether the facility is truly prepared to host guests before...
