A Wing Away Kitchen — Restaurant in Town of Riverhead

There are not stars to leave this restaurant! The food is incredible, portions are huge, and then there’s the customer service!

I was at work and ordered through Grubhub. After an hour and a half without my order I contacted GH where they told me there was no courier assigned to my order even though I had a notification that one was on the way to pick up my order. They asked if I wanted to continue to wait and I said yes. I then called A Wing Away and spoke with Chef Anthony. He told me my order had been received from GH as a takeout order and had been sitting waiting for it to be picked up. He was provided with no contact information for me other than my first name and last initial so he was glad I called. I explained the GH mixup and told him they should be sending someone. He offered to make me a fresh order which I declined because it wasn’t his fault. I called GH back to let them know how my order was received and to confirm that there was in fact a courier going to pick up my food. They assured me it would be in my hands in 20-30 mins. 5 mins later I get a text from GH that my order was cancelled. A few moments after that I get a phone call from Chef Anthony asking for any updates. I told him that my order was cancelled. He told me to give him 20 mins. To the minute Chef Anthony arrived with my order fresh , hot , and delicious! None of this was his fault yet he went out of his way to make sure I received my order. Let me start by saying that I have been involved in the food industry for a long time, and I am a cook myself. The owner Anthony and his wife are absolutely amazing and welcoming people!! They truly put their heart and soul into making not only every item on this menu delicious but also love to truly get to know their customers & make sure everything is satisfactory. This was the second time my husband and I had come here to eat. And as always, everything we ordered was AMAZING & DELICIOUS!!!! I can not recommend this place enough. The wings are beyond amazing, they have so many delicious and unique flavors as well. They are perfectly crispy but also super juicy! This time we tried the pew pew sauce and it was so good we dipped the fries in it! But ever other ones we have tried were also great. The sandwiches are also awesome. My favorite is the Scarface McReuban ( as the daughter of an Irish immigrant his corned beef is phenomenal) And my husband got the Limp Brizket ( the brisket was perfectly cooked and super tender) he loved it! Last time he got the vulgar display of power and he really loved that as well! The sides and sandwiches are definitely generous portions. Definitely try the mac and cheese too! This place is cranking out freshly made wings, wraps, sammies and more.

It's a weird and wonderful little joint! Small dining area, eclectic decor like a memorabilia & holiday item garage sale. But it works. It's a vibe. End of the day, you're going to remember the FOOD.

Anthony the owner greeted us so warmly. Order at counter. Freshly made food is brought to your table. Its all about the food! No bar. Limited drink selection of soda & water. Again..the wings are so damn good you will question everything you thought about good chicken wings.

The variety & original flavors of wings, is your most difficult choice. But there's no wrong answers! The Everything But Da Bagel wings will change your life! Perfectly crisped wings, tender inside with a cream cheese sauce covered in Everything But the bagel seasoning. It's the wing you didn't know you were missing!

My minus 1 star..menu could use some side dishes. It's a little pricy for what it is. Worth it, but pricy. Dining area left me a little flat. Doesn't take anything away from the food though.

I am sorry we waited so long to try this place. With football season around the corner, will be getting takeout wings from here...
