Flanagan's Pub & Grill — Restaurant in Town of Schroon

I honestly don't even know where to begin. My husband and I were visiting here for a few days. Pub had a variety of gluten-free options on the menu listed. Also said on every page to inform the server if you had an allergy and they would handle it. The first thing we asked was if they have a separate fryer they said no but they listed their wings and coconut shrimp as gluten free. FALSE. IT'S NOT GLUTEN FREE IF IT'S IN THE SAME FRYER!!! We then tried to get clarification from the server who initially brushed us off and ignored us and kept asking for a drink order..When we kept asking questions she just running back of the kitchen and the owner giving us random answers that made no sense. We then we just finally asked to talk to the owner who was lovely and came over to tell us that no, they don't have a separate fryer but they have all these other gluten-free options. I said how can you call the wings and shrimp gluten free if they're in the same oil?. She then said well when we have time we'll do them separately but not when we we are busy. So I said why don't you put that on the menu???? I kindly told her it should be listed as gluten-friendly instead of gluten-free all over the menu. Very deceiving and actually unethical. Unreal. I then got coconut shrimp which was overcooked and mediocre. My husband is the one with the allergy. He was able to get ribs and potato skins. The salad I ordered had a vinaigrette that had an aftertaste and there was hardly any cheese or walnuts on it...the part I was actually looking forward to the most. But here's the kicker. I ordered grilled chicken on the salad to get an extra protein and it never came. I said oh I ordered this with chicken and she said oh, The kitchen messed up. I'll go back and have them make you a piece of chicken right away. 45 minutes later no chicken. The waitress literally disappeared. When she finally came back I said where's my chicken? She said oh. I took it off the bill for you because they won't make it. WTH?! She said "oh everything is messed up in the kitchen tonight and so I saw it come out without the chicken and asked him to make your chicken and they said no" . So I just took the $4 off the bill. I said so. I guess I can't have chicken?! She starts randomly apologizing and then takes the bill thing at the table with the handheld and expects me to do the tip right in front of her while she's staring at me. Completely uncomfortable. It was the most awkward, bizarre, awful experience I've ever had at a restaurant. They need to get it together. Food allergies are very serious for a lot of people and you can't write things that are blatently incorrect on the menu when it comes to food allergies that could be a legal issue. I left hungry dumbfounded and...

My children were discriminated against because of their age. We were meeting them at the restaurant and they arrived first. (Two 17 year old's and three 14 year old's). They waited 10 min at reservation table/entrance and were never acknowledged, while others bypassed them. When finally greeted, they informed the girls there working (VERY rude) that 5 more were coming. They were told that it was CASH ONLY. They told them no room and they asked, it's ok, we can sit at separate tables. (At that point their were clearly 4 to 5 tables empty.

We adults arrive and we asked what was the problem. Immediate unprofessional tones from the waitresses and hostess. At that point I see one of them quickly go put a cash only paper taped to the front of the door that was not on their when the boys arrived nor us!

After politely informing and asking them about the empty tables with no others waiting, was told that they were either reserved , not bused yet and a staff table. Yeah right! it was a huge 8 person table smack dab in the middle of the dining room. I explained again that we could use separate tables and would wait for the tables to be bused. NO, those are reserved.. By whom, I ask. There was no one else waiting and BTW, they do NOT accept reservations!) At that point I asked to talk with the manager. Girl went in the back and said she's not here. I said we know she is and we all walked out. WOW.

We went north to much friendly staff and atmosphere and had a nice time. On the way back, the CASH ONLY sign was not on the door. Another WOW.

We came in for a drink and some food, place wasn’t busy. I ordered a glass of wine, but was told I would have to buy a bottle ( that was fine) we had two friends join us so we moved down to the end of the bar where the bartender ignored us completely for the rest of the night. My husband had to get up three times to walk down to the other side of the bar to order drinks ( there was probably only eight other people at the bar) when my husband ordered his drink, he told her whisky neat no ice, she served him whiskey with ice (twice). We then finally ordered food, when it came out it was sub-par. My husband asked for mayonnaise when he ordered but got none. There were no salt and pepper shakers at our end, she was ignoring us, so he got back up walked to the other end of the bar grabbed some and brought them back. The woman who brought us our food, she was either the owner or manager saw him do this and walked over to him and put some new S&P in front of of us, took the ones he grabbed and said “now I have to go put these back” I could go on and on. Needless to say we will not be back, service by the bartender and the manager was terrible and rude at times, and the food...
