The Eccentric Bagel — Restaurant in Town of Shelter Island

Okay, so 3 stars. Why? Attention to customer is as important as the food you put out. Bagel = amazing, no doubt in it. Price.. $13.02 for the pic I posted. Mmm not too convincing, I know it's shelter island. But little more meat on it would be worth it. Attention to customer = needs work. I understand it's a new place, so you want to socialize, get people to know you and why a bagel place in SI. But at the same time, you've got a lot of workers always on the island, who are on the clock and would like a speedier service, specially if the store is empty.

Hyped up bagels, either raw or over cooked majority of the time. Been told numerous times over the phone the grill is closed and closing soon yet half hour to an hour later when driving by there is still smoke coming from their hoods and line out the door. If you do call and order with how loud the place is not only don't they hear you but also will laugh continuously like girls in the locker room and say "oh sorry didn't hear you what was that?" while continuing to laugh. Great addition to the island! The team is clearly taking this very seriously with a great store & more importantly great food! The bagels are very good and interesting. I said the plain was more unique than I was used to and I told my wife it seemed like a sourdough option - I do not know if that is by design, but the outside has a nice crunch with a very soft inside - perfect combination. I’ve only been on the island a few days since they opened and already went 3 or 4 times! I look forward to being a patron many times this summer and...
