Panda Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Town of Smithtown

Panda has been operating under the same ownership for at least 25 years (since I've known them). Inside, they haven't done any upgrading whatsoever. I don't think they have changed a ceiling tile in 25 years; however, recently I noticed they might have replaced the carpet but you can't really tell. If they did, it's the same color. The food is excellent. Their kitchen is clean, I've seen it. They have really, really great Egg Foo Young (order extra gravy on the side). And my husband says you can always tell a good Chinese restaurant by their pork fried rice (which is great too). I trust a restaurant that has been operating in the same neighborhood under the same Owners for so long. Most of these restaurants change ownerships constantly. You can bring your own wine (they have no liquor license) and they don't charge a cork fee. The sit down is always empty. Interior is original and old, but who cares? The food is really, really good. I stopped in just for an order of wonton soup. I haven't been here I think since the new owners took over but I think that will change now.

I ordered the pint of wonton with bok choy and was pleasantly surprised to the huge slices of pork in there as well as the vibrant green leaves of bok choy. When I ask for BC I usually get the stems/base and get charged an arm and a leg for it. I also asked for extra crispy noodles and there were plenty! The best restaurant in the area for Chinese food! Lovely and quick service, I’ve been going for years and they’ve never messed up an order. Everything I’ve tried is delicious, despite me not having a very diverse palate. I fear that the business here is going down though, as the person at the front desk is always so surprised to see someone who isn’t here to pick something up for ubereats.
