Bridgehampton Candy Kitchen — Restaurant in Town of Southampton

Candy Kitchen is a great little diner. The ice cream is delicious, the milk shakes are incredible, and the diner-style food blows Princess Diner away. Candy Kitchen only gets three stars from me because the service can be absolutely abysmal. As a lifelong resident of the area, a few bad experiences will not stop me from coming back, but I would certainly understand first-timers who do not return. The wait staff can be downright rude, and customers are often left standing waiting to be seated for long periods of time before being told to "seat themselves." This is a charming throwback diner. Nothing here was bad but nothing was what it was supposed to be. We got the egg white omelette with veggies and the western omelette with a coffee cake on the side. The veggie omelette had raw onions which just overwhelms your taste buds so good luck tasting anything else. The western omelette was just a small simple omelette. The side potatoes were like they were just about to go into perogies, again not bad just off. The coffee cake was a vanilla sheet cake with a cinnamon bisque mix on top, the trend continues here. Avoid eating here, go for ice cream only. Way overpriced Hamptons prices for so so diner food. Yeah it's been there 100 years, and yes it has that old school vibe. Yes their ice cream is decent - but if you want to pay $17 for a few eggs and sausage, or $22 for a salad, you may as well walk a few steps down to Bobby Vans and have a proper meal. This place is just way way way overpriced for what it is. And what you get is very average. Trust me, if you are in the Hamptons and want the old school "soda shop" experience, go to Sippin Soda in Southampton. Same idea....
